Srry for the real lack of update peeps... Life has gotten onto me and I didn't ve time to plan for a better format for the thread...

anyway, given that there's many resources on the Internet to check out the benchmarks, I will not post them here again... Instead, I will post only the current GPU family +- 1 generation, and points to which notebook model comes with it... again, i will need the help of everybody so that we can have a complete list here... PM me or post here with the link to prove...

QUOTE(ricstc @ Jan 5 2012, 02:13 PM)
can anyone please help me with this decision?

I want to buy a highend laptop primarily for video editing (eg Adobe Premier Elements 9/10).

Question - should I get a
1. HP Pavilion dv7-6c00TX 17.2" which has AMD Radeon HD 7690M XT (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated)
OR
2. Asus G53SX-IX199V 15.6'' which has NV GTX560M (2GB GDDR5 VRAM)

Thanks a lot. Been dingdonging with these and researching for the past week. So far, comments point to NV GTX560 rather than the Radeon.

Do you all agree as well?
*
believe it or not, priority will be CPU and RAM...

raw graphic performance wise, GTX 560M is miles ahead of HD7690M...

my opinion is, if u re satisfy with a dv6, y not juz get a MSI GE620DX instead? it's rm100 cheaper than dv6, comes with 8GB RAM pre-installed, and Full HD monitor, with roughly the same performance as dv6... and then max out to 16GB...

Quick question:

Any idea when Dx12 will land? Or even better, the GPU that gonna support it will be available?
*
Windows 8 will bump it up to DX11.1...

i suppose GeForce 600 and Radeon HD7k will be using it...

Added on January 5, 2012, 4:23 pmoh yeah, and i need a complete break down of GT 555M... u all know how big a mess it is... doh.gif

Added on January 5, 2012, 4:24 pmand GTX 560M as well...

I have one suggestion. You should put a list of what GPU you could get for specific laptop budget for example under RM1k, under RM2k etc. and also its capability. For its capability you can just point out to notebookcheck for its benchmarks.
*
hmm... good idea... issit like the best GPU u can get for a given budget, perhaps even for a give size?

well Nvidia is sure to piss off their fans with a 128-bit GTX... laugh.gif

not even GDDR5 can compensate that...

feels more like a direct competitor to Radeon HD7700M and HD7600M, whose predecessor (HD6700M) ve probably burnt a hole in the market share of GT 555M and 550M...

QUOTE(prescott2006 @ Dec 2 2012, 05:49 PM)
1. Will laptop with dedicated GPU die faster compared to those with integrated GPU?
2. Talking about laptop, are all integrated GPU come from Intel? Do AMD and Nvidia produce any?
*
1. not necessarily... my desktop's integrated GPU actually died... tongue.gif

but on the other hand, my old 4yr laptop's dedicated GPU has yet to die, albeit all the games that i play...

2. yes for AMD, in the form of APU (Accelerated processing unit)... look for AMD A-series APU... they ve great graphic (up to double the performance of Intel HD 4000), but lacks in raw CPU performance... still, a great choice for budget gamers...

for Nvidia, ever since AMD started producing their own motherboard and Intel revoked their rights to produce DMI-based motherboard, they stepped out of the integrated graphic market completely...
