OC@735mhz or 870mhz? What game u currently playing? brows.gif
*
MOD it to 735MHz.
OC it to 870MHZ, it only detect in GPU-Z, but it actually doesn't move above 735MHz.
Still abit buggy.

Don't play game much, only tested Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, NFS Shift2, and Blacklight Retribution.

Definitely increase.
But not bad I must say.

AIDA64 Stress Test for CPU and GPU :

Stock (500MHz) = GPU goes up to 84c (to be expected from a 1 fan & vent thin laptop tongue.gif )

735MHz = Up to 87c

835MHz = Up to 88c

950MHz = Up to 89c

Naise mang. thumbup.gif Did you overclock using this guide?

Forget about GTX660M.. GT650M can even reach GTX580M. laugh.gif

Should be no problem imo. hmm.gif You can use Sapphire Trixx.

Do check your temperature@stock before u start overclocking. laugh.gif

Nope, it wont work on mine by just using overclocking tools application.

It is currently locked by the BIOS.

I manage to get the clocks to 900MHZ by BIOS MODDING.
Not done by me though. Got help from someone. biggrin.gif

Just made a short simple video comparing a stock GT640M LE(500MHz) vs BIOS MOD GT640M LE(1000MHz) running NFS SHIFT 2.
100% OC on GPU!
But bottlenecked by the slow DDR3. tongue.gif

Temp only increased around 4 celsius in gaming, 6 celsius in stress test from stock (still within the safe range).

Different games will definitely get different results.
Performance increased in gaming is about 40% to 70%, depending on what game.

So, for those looking for a portable & gaming laptop, you may take a look at :
Vaio SVS13116FGB (Black), 13.3" HD, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M LE@RM3299[1.72kg], 4GB, 640GB(5400rpm), W7HP

If you're willing to spend extra :
Vaio SVS13118GGB (Black), 13.3" HD, i7-3520M + Nvidia GT640M LE@RM3999[1.67kg], 8GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7P
Vaio SVS13A15GGB (Black), 13.3" HD+ (1600x900), i7-3520M + Nvidia GT640M LE@RM4799[1.67kg], 8GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7P

It is like having a lightweight(1.67kg-1.72kg) and portable(13.3 inch) laptop with a GT650M DDR3 GPU performance. thumbup.gif

Thread becoming slow and boring now a days.
Might as well use it for other purpose, as long as it is a GPU discussion. biggrin.gif

Btw, talk about OC, been seeing users of GTX680M manage to do crazy overclock as well, reaching above 8k in 3DMark11!

I just wait till someone brought my ancient M17x then I will get my hand on the mighty GTX680M.

Either it will Sager or Alienware, no decision made so far. I tired traveling with nearly 8-10KG laptop with its accessories, chargers, battery etc.

That ancient M17x of yours is still quite powerful though.

So, you're still going with an SLI capable laptop? Or going for a single GPU since you're tired of carrying a heavy laptop?
Previously I carried my Sager NP8150-S1 every single day on weekdays for work, it does feels heavy, but still bearable.

Now already changed to a lightweight one, since I don't game much as before.
Definitely feel the difference. thumbup.gif

How heavy is your previous NP8150? My context of traveling is from Malaysia to oversea and vice versa. Once reaching Malaysia or oversea - which the place I study, my laptop is basically gonna sit there till the next holiday where I back to Malaysia.

Most probably not SLi-capable laptop this time. Using one currently and the fact that there are tonnes of single GPU out there better than my SLi-configured laptop hurts me lol. But that's technologies, moving forward everyday, hence the term of no future-proof in this field. Previously I am siding to ATi 7970 but guess in the long run (if pocket thick enough), GTX680M much worth it in my personal opinion.

Side question - how good is Sager warranty? That's the major point too besides its cheaper price.

In that case, weight shouldn't be much of an issue I guess, since you only carry it couple of times in a year.
Actually I still have my NP8150, turning it into a home desktop instead of selling it. laugh.gif
The laptop alone weight around 3.1kg, while the adapter I think is almost 1kg.
I don't think you will have any issue at all carrying it around in a backpack once a while in a year. Coz I've been doing that 4-5 times in a year on a business trip.
I'm also currently deciding whether to upgrade my 6970M to a 7970M or not next month, GTX680M haven't cross my mind, but who knows. tongue.gif

As for the warranty, to be honest, it is quite bad due to the 3rd parties or reseller process.
The reseller will have to arrange the shipment. Thus they will usually go for the cheapest one, where it will take a very long process.
I have sent my laptop once because of the bad batch of the 6970M, so they replace the GPU(but still need to send the whole laptop just in case its not the GPU).
Actually once my laptop arrived at Sager, it took them about 1 day only to get the repair/replacement done.
In the end, the whole process took almost 1 month to repair my laptop, but that is because I decided to pay the reseller extra so that they can use better and faster shipment.
It will definitely be a longer process if I didn't pay the extra cost.

Conclusion is, it is up to which reseller you're going to purchase yours from.
I bought mine from Mucro Singapore.

During my first and second year, I did carry it on my backpack which round 6KG. But lately I am too tired to bring it as my hand luggage. Maybe changing from M17x to 15" Sager would be a sweet "upgrade" this time, idk.

Man, 1 month for GPU replacement? shocking.gif I could have that process completed averagely within 3 days flat by Dell Malaysia. Maybe illGear might provide better after-sales service as they are stationed locally but yeah, I am too pampered by Dell after all these years... sweat.gif

Anyway it's a very serious aspect when choosing since we will use this expensive piece of gaming machine not for only one year.

Any noticeable complication? I'd heard someone got a black screen once at the login Windows.
