My painter did paint sealer on my plaster ceiling, then follow by normal wall paint. But some people said, no sealer needed as it will cause "bubble" effect after 1 or 2 years time. How true is it?

How true is it? icic... some of my fren said need sealer and my contractor said no need, as later on hard to skim the plaster if put sealer wor..So most of you apply sealer to your plaster ceiling ? |

It look much nicer with sealer and wall paint, as compared to use only matex or maxilite.

I have been advised to apply sealer on new plaster ceilings. Just for the first time only. Apply a layer before painting the white emulsion paint. It does not cost much and will help the emulsion paint to retain it white colour longer.

If is at kitchen or bedroom, is better to apply sealer....
Cause plaster dust will fall from time to time, sealer will helps prevent it.... BUT... Doesn't means that the dust will not fall from time to time... the process still goes on under the sealer... till sealers will comes off like a snake skin... probably after 5,6,7 years... who knows... hehehe |

My parent's house. Plaster ceiling painted with sealer then the white paint. Painted once after renovation work. Lasted more than 10 years. Only now, colour getting a bit yellow from the years.
So, applying the sealer is the way to go. |

The main purpose for applying sealer for me is to trap the powdery surface for plaster ceiling after that apply with 2-3 layers of the selected paint
