It is possible to limit 3G on phone eg: android
to use 3G(hsdpa 3.6Mbps) not on H(hsdpa 7.2Mbps)?
in android there 2G:G,E/3G:3G,H,H+(21Mbps)
in iphone 2G:G,E/3G:3G
*
Yes, it is possible, but you may need some experiment for it to work
Just key in this code in your dialer for the secret menu
*#*#4636#*#*

Play it yourself biggrin.gif

Hi , I am new to usb 3g broadband . I'd like to ask , if I wanted a prepaid 3G , plan to choose Umobile prepaid U28 RM 28.
But now , I worry some 3G USB modem signal not so strong and always disconnect ?
And some mention about sim lock.

Any suggestion ? budget Not over RM 100 if possible.

For mifi , can I use a router modem to connect right ?
*
For not over RM100, you can get E1762 or push up your budget a bit and get E353 from fruitie, cheapest here laugh.gif

Is it possible to lock our USB modem for just connect to HSPA+ connection only ?

My area has HSPA+ connection , I can get 10Mbps .. but sometimes my USB Modem [Huawei E367] didn't connected to HSPA+, but instead using HSDPA connection..  ...
*
You can use Band Config to specify HSPA+ tower, but it may me signal issue too
Connection type will drop to HSDPA is case of low signal

yeah, could the user pls give us a review

thanks

Silightly higher latency compared to E367
Maybe because the 3G to Wifi transmitting

Good wifi signal, will provide comparison over a actual router soon. But the signal is really nice for device such small

As for speed, E367 is slightly faster

Wil provide speedtest image as now only have SKMM cry.gif , my maxisbb will be back on Monday or Tuesday

One of the best feature of E355 is it make itself into a LAN adapter after installing a small tweak. Then, any management can be done in the web interface.

This could be an advantage or disadvantage as no more advanced MDMA or fine tweaking but some serious tweaking like port forwarding or advance router function is available

if i changed my modem to a higher download capability modem.. will the speed increase be really significant? current one is 7.2mbps (huawei e173)

Depends on your QoS
If your QoS 8640 even have E398 also won't have any significan results

so changing modem will up ?  blink.gif

QoS is the amout of network threshold that Maxis give you

QoS depends on
Sim card
Data plans
Base station capability

QUOTE(digilife @ Jul 3 2012, 06:13 PM)
Sometimes QoS is just a guide of what speed you would get but not necessary tied you to the maximum or minimum

I have a simcard that only have QoS of 2048/2048 ( some regulars would knoe which simcard i am referring to, esp KKW )

During "normal operating hours" on a Icon505M/E372, i get mostly speed of abt 2Mbps ( rated QoS )

But during "graveyard shift hours" i get 5Mbps on a Icon505M

How do you conclude that QoS will tied you to a certain speed range?

However when i use my simcard of QoS 16000/8640 on a E372 during "graveyard shift hours" i only max out at 9Mbps and not 16Mbps?
*
Agreed notworthy.gif

Anyway SKMM and some SIM is fully capped on 8640

Even on graveyard shift hours, only 7mb+

Is it safe to say that huawei e355 is the best in its price category?
*
Performance to Price ratio = No, E367 have a better performance on a lower price

Features to Price ratio = Yes, E355 include features as a router + modem with decent performance
