Only your laptop unable to find the wireless network?
Try using your phone / tablet and see. Could be a problem with your laptop instead.

USB hub will reduce its power thus reducing transmit power in the same time reduce signal

Been using Umobile for 6 months, and have to say that the speed is very stable. although this depends on your location etc. But once you get a decent coverage, you'll enjoy the speed

You need a converter as no manufacturer wanna fit a large standard antenna port on a small device

for connector alone, sure ts9 is more solid than crc9. but it would come down to the final design and producing technique used by respective manufacturer in the modem. (same theory as using same qualcomm chipset, but why one better than others).

the most solid one is by soldering cable into 3g modem and use rp-sma connector (with thread), for those who already modified modem without external connector such as huawei 15xx , 173 alike knew the outcome. (the rp-sma connector is hold in by the plastic casing). last time sold a few antenna were to ppl who did this to their old modem to give them a new life.

yup, that is the rule to follow.

but the E367u-8 with Redbull logo is an exception: i.e mixed band version found in their Redbull u-8 stock, i saw Redbull u-8 with single band (2100MHz) Redbull u-8 with dual band (900+2100) and Redbull u-8 with quad band (850+900+1900+2100). really a mess. supplier also not aware any. don't know how actually huawei came out this kind conflicting stock for Redbull.

850+1900 is useful if frequent travel to US or some western countries. But if only used in Malaysia or asia countries, still 2100MHz (main band) + 900MHz (supplementary band). As theoritically say higher band = higher speed, and also practically confirmed by some users here, 2100MHz is highest speed for 3G especially now in DC-HSPA+.

** so to verify yourself, is to open the Mobile Partner program: see Tools > Options > Network: All band. this will be 100% accurate tell the truth rather relying online info. the other reliable info will be FCC registering info.

I don't think you can limit the 3G network..
The android allow you to limit on 3G or 2G network only
