I have TL-MR3420 v1 and use with Huawei E398 LTE. No issue at all.

guess is good news for those MR3420 V1 router user,. they can save their money just upgrade their dongle alone to LTE thumbup.gif

Hi guys and all sifus'

Currently looking for modem to upgrade from my own.

I have been looking for this 2 particular modem:

1) Huawei E372
2) Sierra 312u

In terms of reliability, consistency, latency and performance. Which one is better? Planning to pair with MR3420 for long hours connection use.

Or u guys, have another recommendation. As for LTE modems, out of my budget.

Hope to hear from you guys.
*
those Both usb modem model is more expensive then certain LTE modem,.. notworthy.gif

u better go direct for LTE modem,.. just my personal opinion

How come i use my E355 for a bout 5- 10 minutes, when i touched it, it was very hot  hmm.gif

The line also unstable though.  hmm.gif
*
huawei E355 is usb modem + wireless hotspot,.

so it is like huawei E353 adding in with one extra wifi chipset,..

Huawei E353 alone is quite hot enough,.. not to mention adding in with one more wireless chipset to provide wifi,..

best is places it under aircon or put in area where the air ventilate well, or somewhere shade cool or using a fan to constant blow at it,

once the temperature raise, the stability consistency of your connection will confirm going down and vice versa too ,...

so hold the temperature down is quite the main key, other than signal ,..

I see. Thank you so much bro. But sometime it is not that hot, sometime it is hotter than usual. how come.  hmm.gif
*
When the signal is poor, your modem will tend to use more power to pull the signal in, or when you are heavy downloading time, your modem will use more power to performs.
More performances = more power = more heat

Never know this Sierra brand as local mostly using/selling Huawei sweat.gif
E589 really hot like baked potato when operating at battery mode.
i got AF23 but it's hot too, bleh sweat.gif the heat also transferred to my modem doh.gif doh.gif
most of the time using E5331, not really hot but most mifi's wifi signal very weak, no choice doh.gif
*
if your mifi able to use without battery insert, then it might help to reduce a lot of heat,.. but i guess most huawei mifi can't do that for sure

Nowadays I rarely use my USB modem, MiFi is far easier and when always ready when I need it.

As for performance differ, LTE standardize the performance unlike previously some modem faster on 3G some slower laugh.gif
*
operate on LTE will confirm get lower heat too compare to hog on 3G thumbup.gif

Wa, I was warned yesterday when I bought a new mifi, not to use the adapter but instead the normal SIM card. The warranty will be void if the pin is broken. I guess this happened if you regularly take the SIM in and out of the slot and got stuck if not properly done.
*
many sim adapter is still not compatible, due to they are too thick,. and when remove from sim slot can easily break the pin,..

there is thinner compatible adapter too notworthy.gif

does this mean my modem will have to work extra hard to maintain the 3g?  hmm.gif
*
it wont performs any extra hard because you didnt tweak the TX or RX power,. u just force to 3G WCDMA only,. notworthy.gif

I see. Let's say i tweak it, what will happens to the modem?  hmm.gif
*
best to leave it, over tweaking them will cause them to work in Max performances at all time,.. will lead to many malfunction or over heat and so on,.

best advise, leave it,. just config between 2G or 3G
