i had a quick look at the tech spec and the picture of the HU, everything looks similar to the previous D2..sound performance wise, no idea..

I was made to believe that the HX-D3 is in actual fact an D2 but was an SPECIAL EDITION or something. The features & specs are the same as the old D2 with the exception of the 24 bit ...I may be wrong here but I was close to getting an D3 from the US a few months back but after some readings - found out that the D3 is in actual fact an D2 but its an SPECIAL EDITION.
Some do say that the new D3 comes with different lighting as well as some internal parts being upgraded. Not quite sure on that tho' Anyways, there's one on sale at ebay too... Clarion HX-D3 |

i believe not much diff in spec la.but the upgrade part can be a huge diff though...btw, if got ppl still wan new d2, i got lobang can get cheap...new with warranty
