You can't. The FIRST google account is locked to the phone and to remove you have to do a factory reset.

Since it is a new phone, just do a factory reset.
Backup his contacts etc by creating a google account for him and exporting the contact list to the gmail account. Then use that gmail account for his phone.

All subsequent ones can be removed no problem.
