» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Press SETTINGS key ( the last key on the right ) - Select Settings/Applications/Manage Applications Scroll down the list of apps shown. Tap on the app you wish to uninstall. In the new apps window , just select " Uninstall"
3. How to I enable apps to be installed on SD card ?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Press SETTINGS key ( the last key on the right ) - Select Settings/Applications/Manage Applications Scroll down the list of apps shown. Tap on the app you wish to move to SD card : If the box " Move to SD card" is not greyed out - just tap on it . The app will be move to SD card OR you can download from Market and install the free app " App 2 SD" to do it
This is another lengthy way to enable it : To install an app to the SD card on Android Froyo, the application itself needs to support it. However, the Froyo system installs all new applications on your device’s internal memory by default, except for those that explicitly request external installation. Luckily, it’s possible to make your Android 2.2 phone put apps on the SD card by default instead. Here’s how:
First you have to enable USB debugging on your Android device from Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Now you need to download and install the Android SDK on your computer from http://developer.android.com/sdk/. Once you’ve downloaded and extracted the package to the folder of your choice, run SDK Setup.exe and click on Available Packages to the left. If you get an error message at this point, enable “Force https://…” in the Settings. From the list of available packages, select “Usb Driver package”, click on the Install Selected button in the bottom right corner and follow the prompts. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB-cable. Your OS will prompt you to install new drivers. Choose to install them from the android-sdk/usb_driver folder. Do not mount your device; you only need to plug-in the cable. Next, run a command prompt and navigate to the Android-SDK\tools folder. In Windows, this is done by selecting Run from the Start Menu (or by pressing Win+R) and typing cmd. You change drives in the command prompt by entering the drive letter followed by a colon (, and change folders with the CD command. For example, to enter the Android-SDK folder, simply type cd android-sdk. In the Android-SDK\tools folder, type in adb devices and you should get a serial number starting with “H” in return. All you have to do next is entering adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2. Voilà, you’re done! Android will now install apps to the SD card by default. To switch back to storing software on the internal memory, enter adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0. I should point out that it’s preferable to install certain apps to the main memory, since it will take a while before the SD card becomes available when you start your phone. Applications installed on the memory card will also be unavailable to the system each time you mount your phone as a disk drive. The internal storage is probably quicker as well, even though Google claims that “there is no effect on the application performance so long as the external storage is mounted on the device.” In general, apps that integrate with the Android OS and that often run in the background is better to install on the internal storage, while games and most other applications will have no problem chilling outside on your SD.
Homescreen widgets should be installed to the internal storage as well

Before we go into the details, you need to install several applications on your Android phone:
ES File Explorer is an excellent file manager for Android. It comes with a built in search function, image viewer, and most importantly a LAN browser that we’ll use to transfer files to our computer through Wifi. swiFTP is a lightweight FTP server that lets you transfer multiple files from Windows, Linux, or Mac through a secure FTP connection. 4. Do I need to use TASK KILLERS on my phone ?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
This is a debatable topic. Personally I don't use any Task Killers. The official stand from Google is Task Killers are unnecessary for Androids. I quote from Google :
By default, every application runs in its own Linux process. Android starts the process when any of the application's code needs to be executed, and shuts down the process when it's no longer needed and system resources are required by other applications. A content provider is active only while it's responding to a request from a ContentResolver. And a broadcast receiver is active only while it's responding to a broadcast message. So there's no need to explicitly shut down these components. Activities, on the other hand, provide the user interface. They're in a long-running conversation with the user and may remain active, even when idle, as long as the conversation continues. Similarly, services may also remain running for a long time. So Android has methods to shut down activities and services in an orderly way.
5. When surfing with default browser, if I have scrolled down many sections , is there a shortcut to go back to top taskbar, instead of having to scroll up many sections again?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I would highly recommend Dolphin Browser HD as an alternative browser. Try it and 9.9/10 you will not want to use the default browser anymore. It is not only faster and have great Tab and bookmark features. As for your question, I don't think there is a solution for the default browser and quite few other browsers too. However Dolphin with its GESTURE features will help you greatly
QUOTE : Quote from Softpedia Gesture commander feature is one of the most useful functions of the browser, as it shortens the time to access a website or do another actions such as, go back, forward, go to the top or end of a webpage. Basically, you can draw a special sign on the screen and the application will recognize it and act accordingly by automatically sending you to the webpage you previously specified. To make a gesture command you will need to click on the small hand on the left bottom corner of you browser and then draw the sign on the screen.
The small hand icon can be moved on the right bottom side or you can hide it. There's a number of predefined gesture controls that you can check by going to going to Settings / Gesture settings. You can also create you own gestures by clicking on the Create a gesture option. From what I noticed, the sign are immediately recognized and greatly improves the functionality of the application. There's no need to scroll through your bookmarks or scroll from the top to the bottom of a webpage, as you can do it with only two clicks.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
The popular ones are Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher and Zeam. My favorite is Zeam. All these launchers has their own pros and cons. You should try out and see which suits your needs better. Overall I can say these alternative launchers is slicker and smoother than the SE default launcher You can read a review of these here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807908
There is a new 3D launcher SpB Shell 3d - not recommended for the Xperia Arc - it lags terribly as this launcher requires ahuge amount of memory which the Arc lacks. It however works magnificently and flawlessly slick and smooth on the INcredible S

HOW to connect the phone with FASTBOOT to determine whether bootloader can be unlock ?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
All phones will have a locked bootloader by default. Unbranded and simlock-free phones will be unlockable through some tool Sony Ericsson will release (probably). You can check if your device is unlockable by connecting it to fastboot. If fastboot recognizes your phone, you will be able to unlock it when Sony Ericsson releases its tool.
1. download fastboot.zip (www.share.cx/files/216783534118/Fastboot.zip.html) 2. unzip fastboot.zip 3. power off phone 4. press and keep pressed menu key and plug in usb cable, notification led should be blue now 5. open cmd.exe 6. cd to the directory where fastboot.exe has been unzipped to 7. type "fastboot devices" and hit return 8. watch what happens
if you see something alphanumeric (see attachment) plus "fastboot" then you're lucky, your bootloader can be unlocked.
if nothing happened, try installing PdaNet (www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php) and retry. its installer comes with the needed driver files. still nothing happened, your bootloader cannot been unlocked the official semc method
UNLOCKING the Bootloader is now available : With these , it will mean one can installed customized roms when available. However do read SE grandma /grandpa warnings about unlocking : http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
TUTORIAL : Unlocking the bootloader
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Warning! This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone.
1. Download: -fastboot package: http://www.multiupload.com/BMJ24IL6XY -x86/x64 drivers: http://www.multiupload.com/0XZV1LXRVA 2. Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions 3. At the bottom click 'Continue' and enter your IMEI (type *#06# to find out), name and email address 4. You should now receive your unique unlock key 5. Extract fastboot.rar and open fastboot folder 6. Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder 7. Select 'Open command window here' 8. Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold menu button and plug in USB Cable) 9. In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version 10. If a value is returned, it means the phone is correctly connected 11. Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key provided in step 4. 12. You're device should now be bootloader unlocked

DEMO of the EXMOR R sensor technology during the preview held at Jayaone on 26 March. It was indeed impressive that under very low light conditions the picture inside the box were captured . The ARC will take superb photos with clarity on foreground and background under low light conditions. Most of us tested our phones on the Exmor box and all came out disappointed as we only see black screens on our phones Video from soyacincau.com
The official statement from SE : The first batch of models to benefit from the Exmor R technology is the Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo and the Xperia Pro. What this means is that these models will be able to take superior quality photos even in low lighting conditions.
For those technically inclined the Exmor R is able to produce these amazing photos because its metal wiring is located beneath the photo diode instead of above it. This results in less loss to image quality. Even with this enhancement the CMOS sensor still retains its low power consumption requirement and its fast operation, making you take more pictures at a faster rate and for a longer period of time.
If you love taking photos then you will definitely love the quality the Xperia models with Exmor R offers. The Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro are all upcoming models from Sony Ericsson which should be released soon.

3D camera is a bit overrated. maybe they wanna go with they SOny 3D tvs. i still think 3D photos still need to take some time to be accepted by end users.
hopefully they use better material, no more chrome parts, dual core, no lag in UI, sexy design. then i would consider.hehe.

Nozomi I find the design is ok. Not too bad as a boxy front is kinda expected for LT devices. What I don't really like is there is always a perceived trade off in something about anything SE. Like Arc with their internal memory (though I have over 50 apps and still have about 130MB free) and now Nozomi without the external card slot. Likewise nothing is finalize yet...have to wait until Jan 10.
As for Xperia Ion. 4.55 in display is kinda big but the overall ergo is still the most important. In that respect Moto Razr totally sucks and it is only a 4.3.
i just accidentally dropped my arc, now got calar and dent.. luckily the screen didnt crack.. im sad, last tym my aino felt and the screen crack lyk hell, immediate go get a replacement screen, cost me rm300(kena kencing i gues) then a month later got stolen.. wat a bad luck..

so sorry to hear that.
the most common ways to drop your phone (that ive heard of)
1. getting out of a car and u forgot that you put ur phone on ur lap. 2. getting out of the car, it just falls out from your side pocket 3. falls out from a pouch 4. texting while walking..

I must say Arc battery is sooo bad...standard usage can last for 1 3/4 day only. If you switch ON just WIFI for whole day, the battery gone very fast...I need to charge every nite when reach home from work. If forgot to charge, tomorrow morning, si liao loh...

yup.. So what i do is:- Home got one charger, shop have one charge and car got one in-car charger..
just now my arc s just went blank screen with lights on. need to remove battery. and sometimes i just restarts itself.
i think i tweak with it too much?
i installed auto task killer and left the Empty App to 100MB. is it too much?
and my phone always left around 105-110. So when it reaches 99, i think thats when it starts killing anything..
Now ur phone ok or can't boot?

@infinity
i believe battery issues are very common for all the smart phone these days. I think most of us here also have that kind of battery life? I use juice defender with wifi on whole day also last me till night bout 20-30%. You gonna charge phone like you brush teeth everynight before sleep. hehe
@skyevo91
phone is ok now. can restart after remove batter. just now i receive a call within 10 seconds it freakin reboot again. haha. till now i think it reboot 4 times iianm within few months. donno whether its because of the juice defender,autokiller,setcpu..or whatever problem it is. any ideas?
autokiller set on aggresive hidden app 82 content provider 89 emptyapp 98 set cpu 1401 max 806 min

it's ok dude... btw, the one that u set in autokiller is called min free.. setting min free to aggresive mod can cause android system to imbalance..

hi guys! planning to buy arc s white next 2 weeks b4 CNY and would like to know any place in low yat has the best price? Heard that nozomi is going to launch and im thinking is there any chance that the price will be reduced further? Now what's the market price for original set?

argh.. my arc s so lag. whenever i pressed home button, the 5 widgets pops up 2 by 2. i even move some widget to other screen so that i wont see it pop up slowly. haha. or whenever i unlock, i need to wait ...1...2...3...4..5... seconds only start swiping if not i will get pissed if it hangs a little. haha .
the flashing arconium looks promising. but i guess i just wait for ICS to come, if ICS still sucks on arc s..then time to flash.
but by right my arc should be fast what.. im using
rooted. GO launcher. 4 screens. 9 widgets in total. no folders on desktop. set cpu min 806 autokiller 60 70 80 phone memory available 166mb Free RAM approx 9xMB
Apple iPhone 4. Very sharp pictures for a phone comparable with point and shoot cameras – pictures have a lot of details. And even when there is little light you can still get decent pictures. However, the white balance auto settings are awful and even under natural light in cloudy conditions all pictures are bluish and indoors it makes all pictures yellowish.
Apple iPhone 4s. It is a lot better under lamplight when its predecessor: fluorescent or incandescent, cloudy conditions – nothing embarrasses it. And if there is enough light it provides a rather high level of details. Low light condition photos don’t suffer from too much noise thanks to its noise reduction system but it loses the smallest details as a result. All in all, it’s a very decent camera.
HTC Sensation. Very sharp pictures regardless of lighting levels for a phone. Amount of noise in low light conditions is minimal and barely visible. It does well when it comes to colors too, naturally, it is not nearly as good as regular point and shoot cameras but for a phone its quality is impressive. There is an issue of uneven sharpness on the edges of photos but it is probably a defect of this specific unit.
HTC Titan. Pictures are very sharp in the center but edges are a lot more blurred – this is a frequent flaw of compact lenses. White balance is set correctly most of the times even under lamplight. Color rendition is accurate and natural. However, in cloudy conditions pictures it makes are too cold. in low light conditions noise reduction works correctly – there is very little noise and pictures remain sharp.
Nokia N8. Sharpness of pictures is on a par with regular cameras. It preserves small details in the center and on the edges equally even in low light and it’s the strongest side of this camera. But color rendition is not that good – it demonstrates one of the poorest white balance stability. It often sets white balance incorrectly in lamplight thus altering hues in the picture. However, it does well in sunlight.
Nokia N9. It is better than N8 in terms of sharpness and white balance auto settings (it still makes mistakes but not very often). However, it makes all pictures slightly colder but it is almost an upside as there is no yellow hue on indoor pictures. But outdoor pictures might sometimes be too cold.
Samsung Galaxy Note. Pictures are very sharp even with insufficient light. This camera is very close to low range point and shoot cameras in terms of quality. There are some issues with color rendition: in lamplight it often adds yellow and pink hues to your pictures. White balance is not always accurate but outdoors this camera is good.
Samsung Galaxy S II. The picture pattern is very similar to Samsung Galaxy Note and it has got same white balance issues in lamplight and it also makes near perfect images outdoors. But as well as HTC Titan images are less sharp at the edges as a result of cheap lenses.
Sony Ericsson Ray. Very stable auto white balance even in difficult lamplight conditions. There are not that many details. Image sharpness is a bit lower than point and shoot cameras provide but it is very good for mobile cameras and it is even across the picture.

Weird, im using go launcher too, bout 7 widgets, few folders in honescreen, phone memory bout 104mb,i dun set any min cpu, not facing the lag u mention, n mine is arc not arc s.. there only a split sec lag wheneva i enable data or wifi, but it only lyk a sec.. the only issue i hv wit this phone so far is the battery life, only up to max 15 hrs fullcharge, plenty of browsing wif 3g..

I'm using Arc (non-S) using go launcher with 3 screens, 7 widgets, a few folders and many icons. Mostly is smooth unless it doing background processing thing like indexing picture file for gallery or the moment after closing the browser. My free RAM is mostly around 50MB to 80MB. I don't feel the need to kill the task to free up the memory because I see no difference in performance with 80MB and 150MB. If you need to use high memory usage apps then android will kill other apps to allocate the extra memory to it. However, I feel that it lags because of the extra apps we installed and not the phone itself. Oh, Live wallpaper make it even worst.
For my case, the battery is great. I don't have data plan and I can make it last 5 days on moderate usage.

I'm not kidding. For that 5 days I sent around 5-10smses , voice call 15-20mins daily & sometimes on bluetooth device while driving. I never expected to last this long because everyone complaining 1-2 days max. I checked my battery status and the highest percentage usage is cell phone and not the display. I didn't use wifi and screen brightness at 30% only. If you keep on playing around with your phone sure cannot hold that long. You can try to minimize the display usage and I think you can get 5 days too.
If using wifi and other multimedia task only can hold 1-2 days only, same like you all.

WEnt to Lowyat today and had a heck of a hard time finding much choices in terms of leather flip style cases for the Arc for my missus. Anyone know of any other particular places I can look?
She wants a coloured/designed case rather than the plain coloured ones and she wants a flip style case coz she's scared of damaging the screen.

Try search n buy online bro, alot more choices.. or search online, take a pic of ur missus preferred case, show to d shop, they might able to order it for u.. to go shop by shop randomly is pure luck if u able to get wat u wan.

Normally I didn't use my personal phone during work hours and only use it after work, unless got personal sms or call. However, during weekend battery last 1-2 days only because always play around with it. Heavy usage only can last half day.

thanks for replying man. appreaciate it. but i sucked at anything more than 5 steps. 18 steps to unlock bootloader..hehe.. will test it out when im really pissed with the current state of my phone. thanks a lot.
haha..no la.. uzary said there are a way to root without unlocking bootloader i show the way, but it is cannot applied to .62 firmware so unlock bootloader is the way atm..
hi friends. please add me on the users list as well. got my LT15i and preserved it physically as same state when bought last Sept 2011.
my unit is running on 4.0.A.2.368 on doomkernel version 10, i like the average battery drain of 1% in 2 hours of bare use so I do not update, and possibly just wait for ICS.

I didn't use wifi and screen brightness at 30% only. If you keep on playing around with your phone sure cannot hold that long. You can try to minimize the display usage and I think you can get 5 days too.
If using wifi and other multimedia task only can hold 1-2 days only, same like you all.
but i guess no point we buy smartphone if we keep our phone in as minimal as possible usage juz to save battery... better buy nokia phone that last up to 5 day hope that SE will do something bout this battery draining issue
Added on January 11, 2012, 6:37 ambtw, i found this unique n one of its kind apps in the market... not same with juice defender, 2x battery saver etc. main function is to repair ur battery driver so that ur battery can hold more capacity and can last up to 8 hours more. give it a try

"drain of 1% in 2 hours", yes this is true. the reason of the slow drain is as I had mentioned, I barely use the phone (except if I am outside the house). in the house, its only use is to rarely send out SMS and receive calls. why? i have tablets and a laptop always on wifi where i spend most of the time which you guys may have been spending on your arc.

my having a smartphone like arc (in my case) is more for use OUTSIDE the HOUSE. of course when going out casually, i will not prefer to bring my tablets and laptop out, they are inconvenient to use.
just study your phone well. what is the most consumer of battery? usually its display right? then tailor your phone to use the least display.
here are my suggestions to limit the display drain.
1. use lowest brightness, put a widget trigger on homescreen to brighten it and remember where it was so you can use phone in sunlight. the lowest brightness is useful on all environment except sunlight! 2. install "screen filter" from market to further dim it, useful at dark or at night, and eliminates bright light shock. 3. ensure all the stuff you use are in the home screen. the widget(s) that should be there should be readily informative, ie. displays info for you to read so you don't have to open the app. pretend you only have 1 homescreen. you can squeeze in more icons by using more customizable launcher (i use ADWLauncher EX). 4. widgets like toggles for brightess, 3G/WIFI, sound, flashlight, those are what I call useful widgets. what is the purpose of a weather widget when you can just look at the window and see the real weather? what is the purpose of a time/date display widget when time is already displayed at the top left corner, and the date/time is glaringly large on the lock screen? if u wanna get fancy like the htc sense or whatever equivalent of raining cloud wiper effects, heck... just look outside the window and feel the weather on your face! that is the real sense! 5. think carefully what do you use multiple homescreens for? just to enjoy the scrolling swipe effect? do you really use all those apps? then cram them on the main homescreen for 1 click access w/o swiping! 6. do you notice how many seconds you spend to draw a security pattern, type PIN or password to unlock the phone, totalling in a day? keep it secure in a physical way like bringing it all the time so nobody tinkers with its always ready for action! at the best case with one unlock swipe you should be at the homescreen and what u want should be there! best case, take out the swipe to unlock, and once display on, homescreen immediately. 7. i don't even run juicedefender, autokillers or similar stuff, cos i sync only when i want to, and that is when i turn on the phone and click the app. background data traffic is ON, but activate auto sync is OFF. i do run v6 supercharger script to have multitasking management more efficient. 8. i am studying results of betterbatterystats app, which reports more in-depth usage of battery by apps. perhaps i can improve my runtime more.
you get the drift... its not don't use the phone or just move to a dumbphone. Rather, use it EFFICIENTLY, AND use your other gadgets for redundant stuff!
Example, watch movie, why punish yourself on the 4.2" screen? use the 10.1 tablet, or connect the thing to HDMI on your big screen! Web browsing? use your laptop! do you notice how long you fiddle the on-screen keyboard when you need to type password on forums and stuff? use the laptop! Browsing on bed? Use the tablet!
BELOW is my screenshot of usage, and I still have 18% remaining when I took that, good for at least 30 more hours (1 day and 6 hours more) before battery run out. From here I guess the thing would last for 5 days and 10 hours at least from a full charge!

"drain of 1% in 2 hours", yes this is true and I am even running at 1.6Ghz speeds, I don't want the Sensation XL beating my Arc i even have a very nice live wallpaper called "Mood ICS" running, making the screen a thing of beauty to see for a moment.

I dun even root my arc yet..using custom rom,u be able to oc yr arc?
oc is job of custom kernel actually... doomkernel is the best for arc right now... like mine, i can oc to 2.0ghz but it is not for normal use lah bcause can effect stability.. and to be noted, it is not necessarily flashing a custom rom + custom kernel... juz flash custom kernel is more than enough...
hello, anyone having problem with arc internal battery? my arc clock always reset to 1980 whenever i cabut the battery, or when my battery drain to 0%. and i observed the battery drained really fast even when idle. before this i can get 24 hour usage, but now to hold for 24 hour per charge with no data usage and auto update off also can't.. :-(

Phone clock will reset when battery took out for long time (I not sure how long, maybe 5-15 minutes??). Same thing happen to battery drained until 0% and not immediate charge it. This is normal phenomenon.
How old your battery now? Almost 1 year? Charge and discharge process will deteriorate your battery performance from time to time. If your battery still new, there are many factors can cause battery drain fast depends on your usage, apps install and many more. Try study your battery usage first, look which process drain your battery more.

so sad. all went back to square 1. but while waiting for ics for arc s, i just play with my new G.nexus. hehe. collectors item.
u know what? actually .62 can be root.. as long as u hav unlock ur bootloader n juz flash the latest doomkernel.. tadaaa... u've root access juz only flashing doomkernel because that kernel is pre-rooted
when arc release, xperia x10 doesnt sell anymore. the last price i saw fr x10 ap was august2011 and it still rm 1k+ . x10 launched 2010 right?
but x10 mini still sell till now
i don't think so.. arc s price will not dropped drastically. because arc s still got its own potential buyer that are not able to buy new xperia s. y they still sell x10 mini? because that entry level phone has lot of fan n potential buyer. perfect choice for those who are new in android. unless in future, arc s got so many hardware problem or malfunction, then the price will go down rapidly... as far as i know, arc s has no serious problem yet. juz a minor hairline crack n heat problem

Agree with that heat problem..even my arc kinda overheat while playing games..
even seller does not recommend arc/arc s because of this heat problem. for me, that is not big deal. unless the heat problem is so serious that could melt the inside chip.

that hairline crack still havent solved ?thatss before xperia arc s released.lucky its not big deal
and that heat problem is normal for every phone even using iphone play games also hot .
i think in future, this phone wont be sell anymore like x10(not x10mini) or maybe the last price will be 800+ . not lower than that .
btw guys the price for xperia arc s ap set have went up like rocket .
last week was rm1120(white) now its 1210 .. ruin my plan to trade play with arc (do u think its worth it?)

Just informative sharing on how to update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 then root with the new zergRush method.
I know, don't flame me, to some of you this may be old news and you all are very advance with flashing custom ROMs etc, but I'm only sharing this to the newbies.

Ok will consider that. But I think it is NOT really necessary for newbie to install adb/fastboot - in fact, this is only useful for those that want to flash Custom ROM - which also means that they will VOID their warranty because it requires one to unlock Bootloader. (yes I know can relock back too) but still - I think rooting is more commonly asked - mainly bcos people want to Freeze stock apps - since our Arc have so little memory - every little squeeze helps...

I bought 1 yesterday at digital mall for 1380. All the shops quoted around 1380 to 1400.
Finally change from Samsung Galaxy S after more than a year. The first thing I noticed is everything is snappier especially apps like Facebook. My old phone Facebook apps takes ages too load and frequently crashes.
I love the bravia engine display. Much more livelier compared to my old phone which is having a good display too.

No point waiting. Theres always a better and newer models launch every month. I love the design of Arc and the price is now super reasonable. The only drwabacks are not having a front camera (which I never use) and not dual core (can u really see any did between dual core and single core)
If I wait until Xperia S is released, do you think Xperia Arc S will be cheaper??
I understand. I don't mind about the dual-core or single core. I don't use front facing camera much, but I can't guarantee I won't want that feature in the future. My needs are - nice, elegant, good camera as I won't buy a compact camera, internet access and fast. That's all. I still can't decide whether I should: a) buy arc s now; b) wait until xperia s is released then decide b) i. buy xperia s; b) ii. buy arc s because xperia s is too expensive...
argh ... dilemma!!
FYI, my mobile phone of a few years old can't be used d and I'm currently using a friend's un-used mobile phone. So I do need a new phone some time soon. Just don't know when to buy one ...

in ur case, i'm highly recommend u purchase arc s. it is more than enough for you. no need to wait for xperia s bcoz the price is too high. u must wait another 1year for the price go down around 1300 ap set. unless u hav enough cash, then u can take xperia s fresh from the launching event in malaysia

or mybe Sony will recreate arc by making it dual core, addin fron camera, a large internal memory n better material for the body. n then put the Sony brand on it. the name can be sony xperia arc duo if this happen i surely buy one, i just love arc design so muc, but hate a bit about the quality of the material they used, look a bit cheap wit the plastic, has a hairline crack issue n that chrome peels off..
p/s there is rumors such phone it mention above, codename nypon.

If not mistaken, there is an apps call 'carrier name' at market but its not free..somemore your phone must be rooted to use this apps
For those who want cheap, then get the Xperia Arc (not the Xperia Arc S). The differences are internal only, externals are the same.
Xperia Arc S has newer chipset (MSM8255T), which essentially boosted the cpu clock to 1.4Ghz and higher download bandwidth for HSDPA modem (14.4Mbps). If anything the power consumption should be same like the previous Arc in spite of these improvements.
The Xperia Arc (not S) can be overclocked to same or higher speeds than 1.4Ghz, but of course increased power consumption.

register me to the list pls lol 4 months old arc S user. been very happy with it and no problem so far (touch kayu).
on a trivial note, my Arc S has been standing out among my friends who uses s2, 4s (my circle of friends are trendsuckers )...but lost to Galaxy Note due to its fatty big boss size

Original batt should last u about a day if normal call n SMS.
is there any package that comes with MW600 for arc S? i understand that arc S comes in two packages, ie 'lite' and 'full'. thanks.
No. Arc S only comes with one standard package.
Actually full or lite packages is done by outside company. Sometimes they say lite packaging because they took out the MW600 & Car charger then they sell separately to other ppl.
For me those who r interested to buy arc, i suggest to go for arc s, a bit faster.. alang alang. But if the price diffrent btween arc n arc s too muc , then jus buy arc.
Been awhile since I've visited this thread. Anyways I'm looking for accessories (a docking station, to be specific) for the Xperia Arc. Could I get some recommendation(s) and review from those who already own and tested one of these docks? Would be awesome if you could tell me how much and where the docks are bought
I got my ARC S totally free! Oops...actually from AMBANK Balance Transfer with free gift!
Well, this ARC S design can compete with Samsung Galaxy S2, but screen little bit smaller cos S2 is 4.3", Arc is 4.2". So far I really frustrated about this phone is the battery. Damn...everyday has to charge. If you skip 1 day to charge, I can tell you early morning you wake up the battery left 2%.
Anyone here know any battery replacement for the stock to increase the capacity?
There are sometimes got lagging when swiping on the screen menu. Not really smooth...i doubt it is 1.4Ghz, although my internal RAM still leftover 160mb.
with moderate usage of voice calling, msg, internet blablabla...
first 2 weeks since i got arc s, battery drainage is drastic. but after a month onwards, fully charge can last me almost whole day with moderate to relatively heavy usage, which sounds good to me actually.
just sent in my arc for the hairline replacement today.. apparently they only change the frontal housing and not the chrome portion
it actually cost 134(include labor) if its not under warranty.. funny thing is they dont allow the change of chrome at this stage.. and couldnt answer my question "why"?

Any solution?
1.4ghz processor is mean for operation of bigger apps or game that require more power. it is normal for screen menu to lagging a lil bit. even other phone hav same problem sometime. about the battery life, i admit it is very poor. but it depend on ur usage n setting. before this, one of user in this thread mention he did manage to get the arc s last up to 5 day with minimal usage n 2 days for heavy usage

Agree..even my arc battery only can last few hour..super heavy usage
battery problem is no 1 issue of any smartphone. we can't prevent that but we can manage
Yup, for me, under heavy usage such as browsin n gamin, my phone can only last 12-15hrs, but if i uae it lightly for some sms n calling, it last for 2 days.

Hey all, wondering if any of you who are still using the pre-applied factory screen protector on your arc? After using this phone for 8 months, I finally decided to peel it off today, as there were scratches on it and a small dent at the center of the screen protector due to a drop. Man, it's like a new phone now without the screen protector. Display is much sharper and clearer. To those who wonder how I got it peeled off, I just used my finger nails. Find a corner of the screen protector where the gap is the largest and peel it off slowly. It really is tight though.

I got convinced to peel it off after reading comments from xda developers. The screen itself is scratch resistant (I've personally tried it out using the sharp end of a blade) however the pre-applied screen protector gets scratched easily, too easily in fact. The only function the pre-applied screen protector has is that it's a shatter proof sheet.
I've searched all low yat and sg wang that CNY promo with liveview al out of stock!!! Where else have? today is the last day what is the original price for arc s now?

It is complicated, it depend on u urcef actually whether u wan it now or not.. the price will definitely drop as tym goes by, howeva if u kep on waitin, n say once xperis s has come out, then u wil b in anither dilemma of gettin arc s or xperia s.

one of the dilemma is the price of xperia s sure like a rocket. if u hav short cash, maybe u can't afford to buy xperia s. but if u still want it, u need to wait another 3-4 month before the price of xperia s go down. its all up to u man

yes, n that is why if u wait and wait and wait, it will be endless, u wan to buy, buy it now, if u wan xperia s, then wait, save money, n once it come out, buy it.

true! endless waiting. then there will be 1 more dilemma when new xperia line comes out while u waiting to buy xperia s. whether u want buy new xperia or juz buy xperia s.
Just now, my 2 months old Xperia Arc S on Android 2.3.4 suddenly heated up on standby, draining my battery like crazy and after the battery runs dry i am unable to charge it back..
Its not the rapid 3G switching caused by poor reception problem.. I've also force stop and uninstalled all my available apps and even did a factory reset..
Anyone experienced this on their Arc or Arc S or any other similar Android phones?

xtually this kind of cases that we hav to bear the risk if we got a phone wit non removable battery like the new sony xperia s.. if happen within warranty period is ok, but if happen like a month after warranty period over really e.g my sony alpha dslr got problem after only a month of warranty period end
If bought at RM 1300 and sell at RM 800, then means lose RM 500 for 2 months ..
just buy and use, dont bother bout the resale value as u buy handphone for u to use not for u to earn profit... of coz the value of handphone will depreciate not appreciate as land property.
tell me which smartphone nowadays still maintain the resale value at high price? non. all will drop rm200-500 once u open the box and use it.

exactly. even if u sell next day after u bought it, already ur resale price drop RM200-500.
That's my worry too .. few years ago I got SE K850i and it had manufacturer problem. I think after its release, we need to wait a least a month for people to comment and criticise the phone!

Yup im going to sony serice centre at sunway pyramid tomorrow. But i dont think the warranty will cover because the water indicator already show red color means it was wet. As long they will replace all broken part with minimal cost, it is ok, if not.... New phone ler

been using my new xperia arc s for a month now, very satisfied with it since i upgrade from nokia 5800, only thing is the low internal memory but already transfer it all to sd card, so i guess it's ok... (now my internal memory is around 170 mb left and my 8 GB micro sd card only left 600+ MB) and sometimes a bit lag after exiting from games or certain apps
pros is great screen, no lag in games, fast web browser (opera mini is the fastest in my opinion without flash), light phone overall compare to my bro's htc sensation, fast gps lock...
now waiting to upgrade to ice cream sandwich see got any differences
bought AP set for around 1.1k+ including screen protector and hard back casing in subang
me too, offer me ur bluetooth if u dun need it okay
Haha ok bro. Let see how in 3 weeks time. I just know that the bluetooth that came with the package is kinda canggih, got lcd on it, haha i tot it just a normal bluetooth with only button to answer call. Cis if i know earlier sure i use it. Now the bt still sit inside the box even the plastic to protect the lcd still intact.

RM1.1k with screen protector and hard casing not bad.
Where you bought it from? I'm looking to buy the same phone and am from Subang.
i would like to seek advice from all the seniors here regarding Arc / Arc S I have went to phone shops, the salesman recommend me to take Arc instead of Arc because:
1. Arc is cheaper 2. both model functions nearly 90% the same
however, i was not taught bout the features so I have some questions here, hope you all can help me on this:
1. what is the retail price for each? (need to ask coz afraid to be scam >.<) 2. which one is better/recommended to get? Arc or Arc S? 3. do I have better options than these 2? (not going for iPhone or Samsung...)
please do correct me if this is not the right place to ask so thank you
Arc ori around rm1.1xxk Arc ap around rm1xxxk Arc s ori around rm1.4k Arc s ap around rm1.1k If u dun mind buy ap set of arc s

one thing i feel weird about sony ericson for is the price (ap set) can go up and down, it happen to me also last tym..
Haha yeah, im also been told that the price of ap will go down after cny, before cny the ap price increased suddenly from 11xx to 12xx. Just add couple of ringgit can get ori dy.
this is what i afraid . everytime i buy new things the price will drop a lot last time buy xbox360 also like that xperia play also like that 😓
mostly electronics stuff price drop very fast when it was first release the price is very high and very soon when you come back and check the price again, OMG it drop so much???
so mostly you guys recommend Arc or Arc S ? is the additional / new features on Arc S worth it?

The thing is.. I nver expect the price to drop then it drop like a lot.
Example xperia play was rm2100 when 1st launch then price went down till rm1580.. Then i buy it.. Few weeks after that the price went down to rm 1.3k..fuuu..
Now resale value also so low.. I notice this only happen on sony product.. For samsung the price will go down also but not much like se. So does htc,(last time la now dunno) ,

i never buy any hp during first launch, usually the price is freaking high and when price drops also freaking fast
for the past, all my hp i bought never exceeded 1.1k, but surely those can be outdated model, since I bought them at least 1 year after first launch
and all my hp i use usually last for 2 years, when almost 2 years anniversary the hp sure come out a lot of problem liao... then hv to change new hp again >.<
my current hp is nokia5800, also 2 years anniversary liao, battery starting to gv problem liao... so now doing survey to buy new hp
well, ori Arc price = ap Arc S price will consider properly before buy it
oh yea, Arc only has 2 colours while Arc S has 5 colours, does anyone of you know where to see the clear picture of each colour?

The phone car charger , u can get rm50 or cheaper at 3rd party product.. Not original but at least it work and nver fail me fr 2 years.. It got bb logo but i can charge my xperia.

Do u really need those accesories? Like a hdmi, how to use if u dun have a monitor that support it? For me,most important is charger n a headset..just my 2 cent
Idk, I'll try hunting around next month for the best price. Price should drop when Xperia S is near launch when they want to clear stock. I might be wrong but I think Lite Package = without MW600 Bluetooth Headset and car charger. 8GB is included for all Arc S.
Cant wait,, but i think the price drop is not much..

Jailbreak is illegal while root is legal. Jailbreak is criminal while root is not. Dont compare iphone jailbreak w android root. Many user jb to have illegal crack apps. It is not necessary for android

Hi, can anyone recommend what apps that can enable video calling to ipad/iphone?
Cheers.
I didnt think it can... Iphone just support face time. Or if buying skype credit. It can be use with it. Or maybe can try yahoo messenger, i not try it yet...
juz rooted doesnt improve performance lorh. u need to edit some item in build.prop and also add some tweak at init.d folder. that is for advance user but for us normal user, there a lot of tweak that are ready to be flashed easily. try to check SE xperia arc section at xda thread regularly for the new update. for me, i juz underclock it to juz 900mhz just to save battery and most important, no lag at all and apps run smoothly. trust me, rooted phone is a must to make ur arc/arc s truly ur own

ori arc really matter for those who want extended warranty and also nationwide warranty. but if u heavy user that customize ur arc here n there, juz get ap set. ori set got more warranty duration up to 18 month usually and can be claim at any SE centre or authorized SE centre. ap set got shorted warranty duration. usually 12 month. and juz can be claim at the particular shop or that ap dealer

You should fight back, complain to the superiors and adamantly demand for fairness. You've paid a premium for this warranty and now you are asked to pay more for something that isn't your fault in the first place. That is wrong, as consumers, we cannot allow corporations to have their way with us.
RM30 to have them check on a product they made and have promised to bear responsibility for manufacturing defects does not make any sense.

i think you just got conned by that guy ok as i said earlier in pm,im gonna write my story about se sunway pyramid.
last week i went there bcause my xperia play sim card got stuck(micro sim) its actually a micro sim card + micro sim card adapter = normal sim size
but it got stuck. so my phone is still under warranty so i went there and that guy with no friendly face, berlagak ,kerek fcking face. just open the back cover ,look not more than 5secs .. and said. need to open this(he meant open the whole thing, unscrew the screw) ,you need to pay rm30 to open it .and wtf .. and he said techinicain not there,so wait nxt week . and other thing .. he said it was my fault putting micro sim there as it not supported, thats why i need to pay rm30 even it still under warranty- sriously wtf . then why do they made sim card adapter for ??bullshit . btw this micro sim adapter does work on xperia arc s ,only xperia play cannot bcause its different ,
so i just walk out from the shop, and went eat kfc , and take a straw(new one of course), kemek till nipis and cucuk2 there, the sim card go out lol . and i dun even need to pay 1 cent , i think if i pay rm30 also they wont open it,they just cucuk2 also
things i dont like about se sunway is that their workers there are just arrogant, not friendly at all , even when u look phones there, they will like give some shit face like asking u to gtfo if u dunwan to buy. unlike apple where they dont even care people test their ipad, ipod, even kids can try and they nver care, or samsung, seller look at you but at least they are smiling and answer question like honest seller
my experience with sony warranty is their mp3 ,and their service is so good but its at times square. so lets us ask sony . are they really charging us for things that still under warranty .if its true then screw them, if its not true, lets make this chinese guy wearing specs gtfo from sony .
i also ask 1 forumer here named yeelin..iinm she working at se sunway pyramid too .i ask her/him via pm before i went to se,and he said that their technician will check 1st,if the sim slot can't be used anymore, then they might charge .(the sim can be used except that it stucked) so it shoud be free but this is diffrent 1st)that guy is not evn a fcking technian ,and he wanted to charge rm30 .
Added on February 2, 2012, 3:27 amAnd in yr case.. its really a con job. U just buy that phone not more than 2 weeks and need to pay for service?
Ok its sound logic if yr phone warranty is at sg and they charge u for snding phone there but this is se my.
And since yr phone are brokeen screen crack, its ok if they charge.. but charging fr service while its still under warrabty is just ... Iinm i read that sony snway does charge rm80 fr updating phone while u can do it fr free.and its from forum lowyat . Bcause i was searching fr info about se warranty and that thread is on the search. I hope u havent paid rm30 yet

Unsecure? I've bought all my tech item including pc, tab, phone from lyn garage sales since 2003. The most important thing is buy from a reputable seller with good feedback. Why buy outside when u can get cheaper price here?
About warranty, for ap set, most of phone seller here in garage sale is established and some have physical store, so u dont have to worry.

And yes, if it's 1266, I'd get the original. Problem is there seems to be many complains about SE Sunway Pyramid's service which really makes getting the original less of an appealing option.

Just dont go to sunway service centre, u can find lots of se service centre in kl and selamgor other than sunway, it just that sunway is near to my house.
I live in USJ so Sunway is the nearest and most convenient.
My dad and I very strong in demanding proper customer service we hentam a lot of shitty customer service people into submission already.
But original is original, we can be sure that the phone is guaranteed to be covered properly.

If you can switch to 3G only then should be no problem. The GPRS signal where you stay is probably stronger/ more stable, that's why it prefers the network. Have you tried it where 3G is really strong, like at Maxis/KLCC?

First time trying out the bluetooth headset that came with the arc S, paired it with my razr, demm ohhsome it can show track id while playing mp3 using standard moto music player, thought it just working with arc or se phone only.
