1)kernel(what kernel are using now?)
2)rom and patches (refer rom thread)
3)flashtool (flash kernel)

step
1)flash kernel (a lot guide at Q&A at xda or specific kernel thread)
2)enter cwm and do nandroid backup
3)flash rom (refer specific rom instruction thread - how to)

try xarc kernel very gud battery saving..other gud kernel is arc knight and ktg..

custom ICS ROM is much better than stock ICS ROM coz dev had tweak it to make it smooth and faster..
you already had unlocked bootloader so customize your phone with many wonderfull custom ROMs..not just ICS custom ROMS..this is a priviledge for unlocked bootloader user only..

basically the steps is nearly same to install all custom ROM..here some steps :

1. download custom ROM your want. (ICS, GB, MiUi, CM, etc..)
2. save that custom ROM file (zip file) into sd cards.
3. download kernel that suitable with that ROM and put inside loader folder in flashtool..dev of that ROM will tell what the best kernel for their ROM (eg. ICS = stock kernel or doomkernel ICS v5 or arcknight kernel)
4. flash that kernel using flashtool..via fastboot (not flashmode)
5. reboot and press volume down when you see blue LED appear (to going inside CWM)
6. wipe data/ factory reset > yes
7. advanced > wipe dalvik cache > yes
8. install zip from sd cards > choose zip file from sdcard > (choose zip file that you had download in step 1) > ok
9. reboot system now.
10. done.

p/s : if there any module for some kernel that must be flash, reboot and going CWM again..after that flash that zip file.
