Exactly, I know what you mean. I agree with you , if the price is too close to those more established makes , most people would rather go for the more established makes.
Chev Cruze 1.8 not a bad option at 98k.2012 Hyundai Elantra, Hello Impossible!

Forte 2nd hand value sucks because its sales is bad…we can expect the same thing if Elantra sales is bad also.

QUOTE(MangO @ Jan 6 2012, 09:54 AM) Just to add that if the price/package for Elantra is not attractive I might gravitate to to Forte. This is because I am am looking for a well specced/priced car which Forte embodies. It is within my expectation Hyundai will be more expensive and less specced but I can personally accept it since I like the engine and design. I agree with you. I haven't place my booking on Elantra yet..waiting for price confirmation. If 1.8(A) above 105k then Forte 2.0(A) will be my buy. While I will not generalise Elantra buyers but I believe some are looking for good value, good price and nice design. This is why they might move on to Forte because T & H are not their first few choices which they would have got instead of waiting so long. |

QUOTE(khusyairi @ Jan 16 2012, 03:02 PM) I think $118K is too pricey for local made car wt Inokom brand. Seems like Hyundai is bullying Malaysia car buyer...this car sell much cheaper than Civic and Altis in other market, it is even cheaper than Chev Cruze. Something is seriously wrong if they sell at RM118k here. When compare between civic & elantra for that price, I think 99% Malaysian will choose H. Civic. At this price I can foresee the car will worth only RM75k+ in resale value after just 2 years, and that is RM40k loss (should be more if add in interest). Scaryyyy... |

QUOTE(turbocharged @ Feb 2 2012, 02:43 PM) Long waiting list doesn’t imply good demand of Sonata in Malaysia. Imagine u order a char kuey tiew and the boss only deliver it to u after 45min, even though he has only 2 customers before u. Each slight news on price will create ~30 new posting…so price really does matter here. Wat i can foresee is that this price will definitely affect the sales of the car, while killing its resale value at the same time. |

The price I surveyed from few SA:
1.6 Std Spec RM 9X,XXX 1.6 High Spec RM10X,XXX 1.8 Prem Spec RM11X,XXX Cash rebate is unofficial and thus differ for each SA (my survey tells it can be range from few hundred to few thousands). This very much depends on your nego skills and the survey you did before buying |

QUOTE(epo @ Feb 6 2012, 12:08 PM) Coz a lot of C segment fan here compare to D segment which not everyone can afford it... K5 sales is virtually a dead fish. Tats why SD is still trying top figure out the best price for Elantra. Correct... take avante x20 as an example... I believe segment C car buyers in Malaysia are more sensitive with price and resale value compared to segment D. And I don't think many will see RM11x,xxx for Elantra 1.8 as a worth buy. |

QUOTE(dopp @ Feb 8 2012, 09:18 AM) Why is 1.6 n 1.8 korean car on par with price of japan made? There is a reason why Vios sold about 30,000 units in Malaysia while Forte about 10,000 units in year 2011. A friend of mine trade in his 7 years old Vios in 2010 for a Mazda and manage to fetch RM45k trade in value for his Vios. When I bought my Elantra X20, the salesman and even the branch manager convince to me that korean car are good price now.. Then launch Sonata, wanted to trade in for that badly.. Went back to see the branch mgr , with my 2.5 yrs old elantra , accident free 45k mileage, X20 full spec with add on accessories package except the exhaust system package...... The boss told me 45-50k max. Hahah... coincidentally I also asked other about my City Vtec which is 6 years old. still worth 50k . Anyway, no doubt X20 is a very good ride, quiet, comfy and fast. |

QUOTE(maverickng @ Feb 16 2012, 01:10 PM) i dont care what they are saying,i am buying korean,(Kia or hyundai) Tats why Kia priced their Forte near younger generation range (age 25-35) since their main target is this group of consumer. The brand and look of the car might have prompted them to use that strategy. just wan to say that T&H many supporter mostly is age 50+ up ppl.. i am not flamming T&H not good car or something, they both are good and excelent(my family own a civic2.0&camry 2.0) since the korean car have improved so much huge,we should give it a try to own it..so this time i am choosing korean car..still waiting pricing for this elantra, too high price and not worth to buy,i will go for Kia or mayb back to J-car As for Elantra maybe SD themselves haven’t got a clue on their strategy yet. If the one who can afford doesn’t feel appeal about the car and the one who like the car are priced out of their budget, then the car can become another crap in Malaysia, just like Hyundai i30. |

There will be a lot of new and facelift car (especially hybrid) going to be launched in the next 2 months. Most are priced between 90k–110k. As we know Hybrid car in Malaysia are priced relatively cheap when compared to Singapore as opposed to other petrol vehicle. So it is going to be very competitive and hard to say which car is going to outsell others.

QUOTE(666devil @ Feb 20 2012, 10:55 PM) Wait for tis car till sien dy. might as well go showroom see Prius c. At least T says launch means launch. Somemore now we have the cheapest 7 airbag car in bolehland This is a good year to buy hybrid car in Malaysia when comparing the price to other countries. Once government re-impose the import duty (probably when Proton launching their electric car) hybrid car price will easily increase 20-30% back. So I guess its resale value is quite safeguarded 3-5 years from now. They are fuel saving and fun to drive but with downside of small size and battery replacement.Still thinking between Insight facelift, Prius C or this Elantra... |

QUOTE(ivn79 @ Feb 21 2012, 06:24 PM) It's high price bcoz they want more MONEY, but with such alot of feedback on the pricing, they wan to lower the price but again, it CRASH with proto & gomen. I think the problem is more with SD rather than government pricing policy. Else Insight, Prius C, Cruze and Forte won't be priced at current price range.See which one come 1st... |

Can’t understand why Proton still needs government subsidy and protection after more than 25 years in business.
Proton like Malaysia is doom for failure due to management policy and attitude. In early 1980s’ Malaysia per capita income is higher than Korea and now they are 3 times higher than us. |

QUOTE(BuFung @ Feb 26 2012, 02:47 PM) i tot got ppl said sd margin very very veryyyyyy low 1... now showing original propose price is similar to forte wor... If SD is really being forced by gomen to price the car high (as believed by many) and indeed have the goodwill to sell the car to public they can give out High cash rebates, Low loan interest rate, Free maintenance for 3 years, Free petrol vouchers, Free Touch N Go worth RM500...just like what many other car dealers are doing now |
