Thanks for the advise. If my biz does project some amount of profit to my current comp in the future, then would it still be advisable to tell to my boss ? I don't really feel like giving them the letter as they had been treating me pretty good all these while. However, it has always been my dream to run a biz with my appropriate skills and knowledge, thus I'd really have to give up on my current job.
Then it's up to you. Treating you good doesn't mean you have to commit your whole life or sacrifice your dream for that company. Give it a thought, i know you're wise enough.
get new job / biz --> throw letter -->boss accept resignation --> serve notice / bought over by new company --> settle
or
get new job / biz --> throw letter --> boss promise raise --> think for 10second --> reject boss offer 1 day later --> serve notice / bought over by new company --> settle
simple as that. no need tell where you are going or whatever grandmother story
