Hi Guys,

I need to find out in detail what is the difference between C200 and C180. The C&C SA told me C180 is a basic car with limited accessories. What I read is C180 has lower hp than C200. Other than that C180 is imported.

Is that all the difference?

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, lowest spec of C-class is C200.

Didn't know they also introduced a 160, thought that was only for the a class.

Just look at their Malaysian website, compare the specs. Power figures best thing is you try. Just see if the different specs and performance are worth it to you. And then remove the badge and no one will know that you have been a cheapskate. Hehe. (Some also remove the badge on their highest spec Merc or BMW, so they can surprise everyone.)

if i buy car, i buy based on my feel...my experience..my test drive

not suggestion from forum to decide

given C200 C180 is same model just like wira 1.5 wira 1.6

its still C class....

if u wanna compare both...simply google u can know the differences edi...

what u cant google is test drive experience..got it?

i totally agree on this one, u r buying an expensive thing with your hard earned money, why the hell would u listen to how "experts" in this forum tells u how it feels to drive it? If it's about FC, or maintenance etc, then it's ok to ask opinions here, but driving feel? i know it's somehow off topic a bit because TS is asking about what's the difference between the 2 models, although he is intelligent enough to answer his own question (by googling i guess), but i think what he really meant to ask is what's the real difference in driving feel between both models, that's why we told him to go test drive, not to listen to "experts" in LYN

Open your eyes. Read his post. Read your post. He did not ask about the driving feel. He asked about the differences. As someone already said, if we all relied on google, then what's the point of a forum? If no one contributes to forums and other sites, what good would a google search provide?

Lowyat.net might as well just scrap all subforums and leave behind the kopitiam, classifieds and tradezone. Because it is obviously better to go try things out yourself than to ask and read about it right? Then why watch National Geographic when you can go do all those things and visit all those places yourself? Why watch car reviews on youtube and read about car reviews on paultan.org?

at dealerships, the cheapest you can get is the C200CGI, as of now.

for in the grey imports you can get as low as C180K(which is below c200K before the facelift).

engine wise, both c180k and c200k are 1.8Kompressor, but c200k tuned to produce more power.

after facelift, both c180cgi and c200cgi are replaced by 1.8T, but c200cgi tuned to produce more power.

specwise, that depends. usually c180 less features.

yes, u really need to open your eyes and READ my post because I've already said it's a bit off topic and I know TS is asking about the difference between the 2 models. I also stated that TS already knows the difference in spec for both models, so if he's still asking about the difference, he might be asking about how different both cars drive (a.k.a driving feel), and to know about this, the best possible way of finding out is to go test them out himself / herself because everybody is different in this category

from what i understand c180 is recon unit. Local only selling c200. if u were to compare c180 spec is way alot lower than local c200.

simple explanation
C180 = Bmw 320i
C200 = Bmw 323i
C250 = Bmw 325i

do we get the c160 in malaysia?

i think c200 is 2.0l n/a, but c200 Kompressor/CGI is 1.8l supercharged/turbo
c180 is 1.8 n/a, c180 Kompressor/CGI is 1.8l supercharged/turbo with less power

The different is only on their horsepower even they had same 1800 CC...

180, 200 and 230 had the same platform...

As an example for Model W203:

C180K - 141 bhp ; C200K- 160 bhp ; C230 - 201 bhp

Different spec too I thought, since C180 is a grey import, so can be different specs too, more basic perhaps.

Hello,

Happy to find this board.

They will launch a new C200 in 2014, do you think it is worth waiting ?

But I am not sure that they will launch a c180 ?

Anybody knows if new Coupé will also be launched ?

A new C200 will always certainly launch in 2014/2015 as the car is nearing the end of its 7 year cycle. And yes, I think it's worth waiting if you don't want the F30 320i or the A4FL.

No idea if they will launch a C180 nor Coupe. Most likely the Coupe won't be officially available based on current on sale models.

If you mean W204, the Coupe (C204) is already being sold by MB Malaysia.
There's C200 and C250 variant, 1800cc turbo charged with AMG body styling and sexy like hell.

C180 AMG mean only bodykits not tuned engine smile.gif

AMG tuned engine only few model like biturbo 6.3 and so. they dun do on regular merc. unless aftermarket.

AMG bodykit ain't cheap. i only afford to change the rim. RM 8900 for 17" sad.gif

I would go for brabus bullit C class body kit drool.gif

Makes me laugh at some of you's here flaming and arguing about something so trivial.
The poster asks a question hoping that someone with better knowledge on both cars can perhaps help him out.

This is call SHARING of knowledge, hence FORUMS exist.

Those who don't know much about these 2 models C180 and C200 please refrain from replying to this thread.
Those who knows need only reply if you wish to share. Simple. Not too hard isn't it? LOL

The C180 is the entry level of C Class that CCB sell. They wont bring in the C160.As for the differences, theres quite afew features that I find absent on the C180 among that I can remember :
1) projector headlamp for C200
2) C180 cant fold side mirror
3) C200 got Parktronic
4) C200 has an autosidemirror. When u reverse, the sidemirror will tilt downwards so u can see any curb or cat sleeping under car. lol
5) memory seat

hmm what else. cant remember liao
For more serious answer maybe u can go to mybenz forum.

Not sure MBM will launch this model. Think it's pretty hard to position this model with the launching of the a class.

C180, C200 and C250 all share the same engine ie 1.8.
However the hp for each is different with the 180 being the lowest of course and 250 the highest.
This is just MB tuning it down to differentiate and make money. In fact even the E200 is using the same 1.8 engine.
The difference between C180 and C200 is if I remember correctly
1. Headlamp and DRL
2. Non powered side mirrors
3. Non powered front seats
4. Dash port and door pieces are piano black for 180 compared to walnut for 200
5. Parking aid
At the end of last year the C180 was sold by all MBM dealers at RM 198k but stock went out very fast.

The new A class will be launched on this Saturday.

BTW once the warranty expires the 180 and 200 can be tuned to give the same horse power as the 250.

Is c250 the difference in hp only? Think you are not familiar with Merc 's car.

not true. C180 CGI is a 1.6litre turbocharged, producing 156hp and 250nm of torque.
C200 CGI = 1.8 litre 184hp 270nm.
C250 CGI = 1.8 litre 204hp 310nm.

That's what I was told.
Actually I am quite familiar with Merc as I went through all these before I bought mine C200 in Nov.
But I may have heard the salesman wrong.
Let me check as I will be at C&C on Friday or Sat for the launch of the A class.

C180 is using a 1.8 turbocharged for sure. At least in Malaysia distributed by Mercedes Benz Malaysia.

I think you misunderstood me. I said the hp can be tuned to the same as 250. Did not say that everything else is the same.
There are of course a lot of other differences between 250 and 200 eg rims, suspension I think is firmer being avantgarde. The front grill and I think the trimmings is aluminium color amongst others.
Sorry if I have not been too clear.

C250 is advantgarde while your 200 is elegance . The steering wheel is 3 spokes withn paddle shift versus your four. C250 also comes with GPS . Trimming is metal feel versus wood trim . Then250 also comes in 'sport' mode . The leather seat is different in the 250. I think the 250 also lower in height.

You can get brabus chip at around 10 k from see&see or nz wheel. They cover the warranty. Can pump extra 30 horses and 40nm. More powderful than the 250 Liao.

But then again, C250 can be chipped to a much higher HP from that as well. If we talk about Stage 1 upgrade, definitely C250 gives you more room and umph...

Try to wait for another 7 months, with A200/A250 selling like hot cakes, maybe MBM will have many 2012 units not sold by the year, then interested buyer can ask for something like 20-30k discount. At the end the price to pay is still better than C200 + reflash cost.
