Hi all,
I need advice on choosing right DDR3 oc rams that compatible with my Phenom II x4 BE 965 3.4GHz + ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR IV Formula 890FX

You are welcome to VOTE and dont forget to share the advantages and disadvantages of respected ram (kpd otai2 lyn sila2).
This should include these dependent factors:
1. Compatibility - amd
2. Performance - 1600MHz or higher? 4Gb(2 x2Gb) or 8Gb(2 x4Gb)? ---->I would prefer 8Gb biggrin.gif
3. Price - Is it worth to get lower timings for better performance?
4. Voltage - Is it worth to get lower voltage in order to oc higher? Do I risk myself if I pick 1.65V++ for this CPU+mobo? rclxub.gif

These are the candidates:

1. [ RipjawsX ] F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ----> RM 255
specs:
9-9-9-24-2N
DDR3-1600 (PC3 12800)
1.5 Volts
***Strongly recommendation: For AMD platform***

2. [ RipjawsX ] F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH ----> RM 483
specs:
7-8-7-24-2N
DDR3-1600 (PC3 12800)
1.6 Volts

3. [ RipjawsX ] F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL ----> RM 339
specs:
9-10-9-28-2N
DDR3-1866 (PC3 14900)
1.5 Volts

4. [ RipjawsX ] F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL ----> RM 414
specs:
11-11-11-30-2N
DDR3-2133 (PC3 17000)
1.50 ~ 1.60 Volts

5. Mushkin 996982 ----------------------------> RM 300
specs:
Ridgeback Redline
7-9-8-24
DDR3-1600 PC3-12800
1.65Volts

6. Mushkin 996997 ----------------------------> RM 410
specs:
Ridgeback Redline

8gb performance ram still quite expensive (to most amd users) & rather new, so one can hardly give u any advise on how they perform on AMD platform. smile.gif

avoid highly binned frequency as ya current chip wont be able to utilize d b/width offered as deneb can hardly hit > 2k on ram. unless ur plannin to upgrade ya chip soon enuf else u better off settled with 1600~1866 ish binned models with rather tight timing. wink.gif

my humble 2 cents. biggrin.gif

Start with1600 @ 8-9-8 > 8-8-8 > 7-8-7... deneb/propus should be max out around 1800~1900 prime stable. Have fun then... smile.gif

The recent batch of 1600 rams have a JEDEC table of 1866 cl11. If you bench it at this speed, you get better result than the 1600 cl9 timing on SB. You can either up it to 2133 or just tighten the timings at 1866 till you can error

As far as I know AMD loves at tighter timings than higher speed.
What should I do now? get tighter timings or higher speed?

I just successfully overclocked cpu @ 4.0Ghz and ram @ 1600 / 9-9-9-24 1T / 1.5V
by adding FSB from 200 to 240 and CPU-NB from 1.10 to 1.20V (+0.10V) rclxm9.gif
