QUOTE(lightning69 @ Mar 26 2012, 07:56 PM)
Went for the test drive of the Prius and the Prius C today.

I wanted to test the Prius C first before the Prius but because the Prius C was taken for a test drive by another person, I have to test drive the Prius first.

I drove the Prius for about 25km with combine city, highway and a very steep hill with all the driving mode including EV.  The Prius have very impressive Synergy Drive which I can hardly tell when is the engine or electric motor, or both and it just switch seemlessly. The different driving mode offer very different driving characteristic.  Power mode offer plenty of power for pickup which is comparable to a Camry 2.0 or better with the least fuel economy.  In normal mode, the Prius is good for normal day to day driving although I feel it a little on the slow side.  On Eco mode is where I find I need lots of patience as it really slow on the pickup but this is where the most savings come from.  I did drive on EV mode for about 1/2km and its quite tricky on the EV mode.  I little too hard on the peddle will take you out from EV mode to normal mode.  So the EV mode is really for certain situations like looking for parking, or stuck in jam.  I manage to get only 20km/litre during the whole test drive but I believe I can get more mileage because during the test drive there are times I was heavy footed to test the acceleration and I also push the car to 140km/hr just to test the speed.

One more thing about the Synergy Drive is that it offers very unique driving experience as the engine completely shut off as I release the gas pedal.  This result in very quiet cabin as only the aircon is running.

One thing really good about the Prius is the cabin sound proofing.  It is really very good as it is very quiet in the cabin and the engine is very quiet because I am not a heavy footed driver. My friend who was sitting at the back seat was very impress with the quiet cabin. The engine will roar a little bit when push but nothing really loud.

Cabin size is very good with plenty of head room for the rear passenger too.  The rear seat is comfortable but slightly smaller than the Camry.

After driving the Prius, I test drive the Prius C.  Surprisingly the C offer very solid acceleration and it never feel slow.  The engine noise is louder because I just drove the Prius which have very good sound proofing and that is within expectation..  I did drove the car to about 80km/hr but did not notice much wind noise and the tyre noise is very minimal too.  Most of the noise is from the engine when pushed.  Overall the sound proofing is sufficient (not great but not bad either).  Suspension is OK too.

The driving experience is exactly the same as the bigger Prius as the tech is identical.  I manage 18.5km/hr for the Prius C.

I was expecting better fuel consumption during the test drive but only manage 20km/litre.  So I believe I can achieve better mileage but that really requires a some changes in driving behavior.

Overall, both car offers impressive hybrid performance but you need to be green minded to really take full advantage of it.

Concusion...I place my booking for the Prius Luxury instead of the Prius C because Prius is a more complete package which can be used as my main family car while the C is limited to a city car which I cannot use for traveling long distance.

I collected my C ytd and very stress while driving back cuz new car tongue.gif

I think you have a heavy foot...  tongue.gif

So the acceleration & handling good?
*
ok la....driving highway, what do you expect? plus now need to adjust it back cuz it's been one month I was driving civic 1.8 to work whistling.gif

salesman only pump RM20 for me only. not even half tank.

@hawk.

you should test drive yourself, but for sure I always compared with my vios cuz my vios handling very good cuz of all the bars i put in...so now i am waiting bars for Prius C whistling.gif

Service is follow the normal car service. 1k, 5k, 10k.....no specific for hybrid car...just follow how you normally service your car.

Just got my silver prius c from kajang just now. Drive around town till midnite lol. I must say that the spec of the car itself is nothing, very common, but the technology really wow me. The door alarm lock like iphone, can play swipe2. Haha. Still cant get used to it every time lock/unclock the car with just swiping the handle.
Can get around 20km/ltre if light footed. But i dont think my mom knows how to control the footwork.
On the road, i get really distracted when reading the info on the screen, although usefull, i cant give a damn bout it when driving or my car start going to another lane. Or maybe im still not used to it
The rest are pretty common and similar like how the other forumers has done their review.
All in all, the car is relly worth it. And most importantly, my mom loves it
*
but too bad the car door can't auto lock when you driving at certain speed. Overall I quite enjoy the car.

footwork in hybrid car must learn but even you heavy footed on it, the car will smooth smooth to up the speed, don't have the rev rev sound thumbup.gif

Also anyone know of any brake lock for Prius C in the market?
*
yeah, I also looking for it as my old brake lock that followed me since my Iswara 1.5 > Vios...now it is not applicable. It is very reliable i bought it from Smart Shop last time (bullet proof steel brake lock, not selling at Aeon Jusco)

but I have ask those accessories shop, and the boss told me that our Prius C and Prius are the same and can installed those brake lock on it. Anyone interested do let me know, i will go to install this Friday cuz i am on holiday laugh.gif

Other innovations include an electric water pump, eliminating the need for drive belts, a cool exhaust gas recirculation system and quicker warm-up times for the catalytic converter. During braking, some energy is recovered and used for recharging the battery.

Nope.. see source http://www.motortrader.com.my/Cars/NewsHea...ta-Prius-c.aspx

Maybe i calculate in long term. As Myvi tend to have big problem after 2 years of driving and money fixing it in long term is problematic. My house have 1 7 year innova and a prius and can say maintenance for the 3 is much lower than my mum kancil . But maybe depends on what u change also ^ ^. Maybe kiasu as see this is only option we dont need to pay excise duty and reason why proton can survive. If same price of VW and proton . Which will u buy ?

Good luck bro. U running on ECO mode ? or normal mode ?
*

Hi all new Prius c owner, how many mileage can you guys achieve for full tank? My first full tank can last me 680-700++km which is about 19.7km/l. With this mileage, it is slightly better than normal car. However, I assume that hybrid can achieve more mileage than mention above.

Are you guys out there manage to achieve more mileage mention above?
*
RM65 = 800km

QUOTE(conqu3ror @ Apr 12 2012, 01:15 AM)
+1

My SAGA BLM can reach 15km/L, seem Prius C not really that low in FC.  hmm.gif
*
RM 65 = 800km, approx. 22km/l

QUOTE(kevinttk @ Apr 12 2012, 07:17 AM)
mine haven't finish the first tank yet. however , under normal driving, i can get 27.3km/litre for 60km trip . pretty good figure already since i haven't used the eco mode. when my wife is driving ,she get 19 - 22 km/litre as well sometimes.

would like to know whether your all manage to get your battery fully charge or not ? mine is always 2 bar nearly to full and have not get fully charge so far. may be i distance i travel is short .
*
I tried Eco mode and battery always drain faster than normal mode. I have one time battery left 1 bar and hybrid battery off and engine on to charge the battery. Second tank slightly lesser 30km compare to first tank

won't full also. cuz all the while the car been half petrol half battery while driving...so it won't get full

anyone here put on door visor already? whistling.gif
