Passat or Passat CC?

But either way the spec list of the 508 demolishes both VWs

Its Passat. Passat cc is 270k. No budget la. Yeah I think 508 is beta. But lotsa ppl stil prefer Passat due to beta reputation of VW. Dilemma. Haha.

The VW is the safe choice, IMHO. Well made, but perhaps a bit... boring. The Peugeot won't be I guess. In Europe Peugeot sit well below VW... like Japanese cars vs. Korean cars.

Test driving both is the best thing to do. 99% of people here have probably never driven either cars before so i would take their opinion with a pinch of salt,or on second thought make that a lot!

Yeah I think so too. But new Passat is a true competitor to accord n Camry. I think it ll succeed in a way. 508 is stil my choice. Maybe not popular to many but to me it's worth the price. Anyway, tq.

for 508 (or any peugeot cars by naza), u will truly enjoy 1st few mths. when the initial excitement over the looks and equipment wears off then all the shit will float up, e.g. horrible svc (somethg like proton/eon in the 90s and early 2000), expensive parts, etc.

it is quite the opposite wt passat. even though equipemnt list is not as impressive compared to 508 but the engine is world class, high performance, and very reliable. furthermore, the build quality is excellent.

not sure abt the ckd models though...

thr is a reason why volksies is more better perceived then pugs.

true. i bought a peugeot from naza before and the salesguy promised me this and that. after buying it, he keep delaying saying the smart tag no stock lar, apointment book for tinting full lar(he promise tinting discount at their centre, jln 222) and loads more bull. later he stopped answering my calls and when i called the office said he quit and it's not their problem! vmad.gif

had 3 peugeot's in my life...they make a wonderful ride for the first 3 years...then the prob starts...especially overheating prob, fan prob, aircon prob, absorber prob...and they cost an awful lot to fix...
but safety wise, they are superb rclxms.gif totalled one of it before and me+passenger was unscathed. car end up in junk yard though... sweat.gif

another thing to add, i like peugeot as they're fast and stable with good road-handling. kinda like a merc/bmw. and they are comfortable..these are actually the few points that made me buy them continously lar...otherwise with so many problems they cause me(and hard to find a mechanic that can really fix them, naza sucks so bad i think they should send their people to more courses from peugeot) i won't have had 3 right laugh.gif

never drove/own a vw before so can't comment...

Pugs are real decent cars, the question here is Naza. After sales svc is a big ???. I won't want to go thru unreliable customer svc and getting stress-up chasing warranty issues sweat.gif VW on the other hand has a solid reputation for quality and ...... rclxms.gif

Actually most of japanese cars after sales oso sucks. Honda is so so. Toyota slightly beta but oso slow. I used to go to USF for Mitsubishi, oso bad. Haha too demanding maybe, complaining too much. But 1 after sales is particulary worth mention is Volvo. I used to hav a S40 n I would giv them 85/100 for after sales.

main advantage of japenis brands is their 3S center coverage. although vw has been making plenty of strides lately but it will take a long time before they are able to match.

however, the professionalism, technical expertise , commitment and consistency is severely lacking in toyota and honda.
sime darby (ford) and naza (peugeot) is much worse. comparable to proton.

vw is somewhat better bcos they have their office here.

[edit:ADD]

if buying car is like buying underwear, then similan choose 508 since dun have to worry abt reliability and after-sales.

This is my personal experience with Passat, not my car, but my friends car, 2 of them. Both having gear problem, D gear was engaged, by right, the car shouldnt be able to move backward. But both of the Passat were moving backward. However, the problem was rectify by VW.

Never had experience with Peugeot, so no comment for that.

My point is, dont ever thnk its rpoblem free with branded stuff. Its just a matter how fast and good they get their service.

Are you sure? I drove a Touran a few days ago, and it rolled back. Shouldn't it be that way with a DSG car? After all it has a real clutch, two of them, which can wear out just like a manual car. Love the DSG otherwise. Super smooth, and fast. And the engine... Nice. Very nice. Both my cars are 1.4 too, but they can't compete at all.

And btw., really a nice car, love the sun roof and kit it comes with, a bit stiff suspension (to be expected from a Conti that's not an old French one) but otherwise great. Maybe also worth a look if you want more children smile.gif

VW are also more expensive in Germany, but people are willing to pay the premium. I'd say it is mid way to a premium brand, to compete with the French VW has Skoda and Seat. Also VW has all sorts of tech Pug can only dream of... If only they'd install it.

Drive both.

Hi, how come the skoda Fabia & Octavia no 2nd hand value. Fabia 1.4 2nd hand less than 19k and Octavia 1.6 less than 30k.

The skoda car In m'sia market still alive?

I think they are still selling cars, but only the RS versions. Very, very very rare. The old ones can be worth it... I mean the Octavia is a good car, tech by VW, made by VW, ... and you get it for prices where you really can't lose a lot anymore in terms of second hand value... there is barely any left to begin with. I doubt most Malaysians are even aware of the brand, let alone that it is from VW.

That why I saw thier engine using the same with VW on DSG.

Maybe in future will be considering on 2nd hand Fabia or Octavia.

Becuase the most improtant thing in m'sia still can find out the service center.

I believe Passat is RM12K more than 508.

If money is no problem, I will go for Citroen C5 (same platform as 508) but with Hydractive Suspension. Very suitable for our lousy Malaysian roads. smile.gif

Uncle had a XM, it was a major pain in the ... . Now he drives a Xantia... shows you how good hydractive is... despite the cars falling apart and being a huge huge problem people who know them won't want anything else.

But yeah, spare parts... the smaller Citroens still ok I guess, cause they use relatively normal tech. But C5 and C6... the suspension is very special. You need a SC/workshop which is specialized in Citroen. Too bad, but they do exist.

Skoda and SC... can't the VW SC do the servicing? They know the engines etc., even if it is in another car. The platform is the same, the parts are the same. Just like some Savvy owners go to Renault SC for their Savvy (when the engine is giving problems). It's a shame that VW doesn't try to establish Skoda here. Imagine the Roomster as a 7 seater in M'sia, competitively priced (one low spec basic one to go against Avanza, Alza, Grand Livina, etc., and a high spec one (the Yeti) with DSG, decent TDI/TSI, 4x4 and everything. But that's too off topic).
