but mine is rooted and can update to 2.3.6 via software updates in phone with no problem...

no need to keep (actually no way if u have not root...)

you can always download 2.3.5 malaysia rom and odin it back...

fail? care to show your "setting", "about phone" ?

Go to "Setting", "About phone". Will show you list of info about your phone. Do a screen capture, want to check yoour Baseband version, kernel version and build number...

May be that can tell whey it wont update...

it said update failed , platform verify failed.

any other idea?

using cowithgun slim shady OS right now..it's light and fast..no problem encountered so far

guys, my phone was updated to 2.3.6 just now OTA
(on the air), not using Kies.
it did not unroot my phone.
everything is still the same except its smoother and faster
i use root checker and it is confirmed that the root access is untouched.
also i used mybackuppro to freeze many unused system apps, it will not be able to freeze unless with root access
if you want to uograde OTA, just go to Settings >About phone>Software update>Update
make sure u r connected using wifi, u need to download over 15mb of data
i would highly recommend to upgrade, it does make the phone more smoother and faster

Sorry! I have not use ROM Manager before. But it should be the same. I just use CWM or RZ Recovery to install the update.zip.

unzip the recovery-clockwork...zip. you till get an .IMG file. copy this img file into your sdcard.

then, use adb and excute the dd command...

ya, make sure u put the recovery.img to your internal sd

i encountered multiple FC after i tried to restore mmssms.db ... it's permission problem. got nothing to do with ROM...

i believed Titanium also backup the mmssms.db, so, i think need to use "fix permission" in Titanium or something.

i m not using Titanium btw...

I got into recovery, wipe partition data, system format, wipe dalvik cache, install OC zip file, reboot..

and the got into setup wizard and force close message pop-up: it was buddies now application..

what'd i do wrong?

*edit: use titanium backup to remove it..problem gone for now
