Just flashed a galaxy ace with Cyanogenmod 7.1 [Unofficial] by BehradGH
HOLY SHIT IT SO F@#KING FAST AND SMOOOTHHHHHHH
Its like on a Iphone

previously this phone was struggling and really lags to even play angry birds, now its just smooth
like on my galaxy w.


I really f#$ked up my gf's phone when i updated her phones firmware from froyo to gingerbread 2.3.4, makes the phone ULTRA LAGS SUPER SNAIL SMALL.
SAMSUNG IS AN IDIOT for releasing this update for ace.


now i dun give a sh*t if ICS ever comes out for galaxy w, cyanogenmod is the way for the future.
no more stupid firmware updates from samsung.


I cant sleep well now until arco68 release a stable version of the CM9 now after what i see it can do.

if have to wait till after dong dong chiang oni can get CM9,
i fear jiwaku tergugat and go buy an S2, directly flash to CM9

Had flashed 2 different roms in this short time.

but i m still stupid not to learn how to backup contacts and data properly first

Using Zergrush method no nid go into recovery mode beforehand

gps slow capture - its a limitation of smartphone, need to use gpsfix to log into gps signal first before using papago/sygic. Also need to turn on GSM if want to lock fast. Mine using fasterfix, then everytime use gpsfix first usually will lock within 1 minute

guys, my phone was updated to 2.3.6 just now OTA (on the air), not using Kies.
it did not unroot my phone.
everything is still the same except its smoother and faster


i use root checker and it is confirmed that the root access is untouched.
also i used mybackuppro to freeze many unused system apps, it will not be able to freeze unless with root access


if you want to uograde OTA, just go to Settings >About phone>Software update>Update
make sure u r connected using wifi, u need to download over 15mb of data
i would highly recommend to upgrade, it does make the phone more smoother and faster

flash back to 2.3.5
root it
then upgrade OTA

Anyway, i really like Touchwiz
its such a great UI
so far i havent found a launcher that is better than Touchwiz
cyanogenmod UI sucks
SPB shell 3D looks great but too fancy and heavy for normal use
ADW launchers are good, but i still like the samsung touchwiz
the UI for my optimus 2x is not as good as Touchwiz too
but Zeam Launcher seems promising

yeah, if can please retain the 4 buttons on the bottom for call, contacts, messaging etc.
its for the most basic use of a phone anyway
