Hi all I just got my 2nd job as a freelancer and they want me to make a short 1 minute flash animation. I need to be animating humans so I believe I will use a lot of motion tweens or frame by frame. I'd most likely use motion tween because of the cuteness of the character im imagining and smoothness of the movement. How much would an animation like this usually cost? They want me to write a little quotation and I have no idea how to do that. Will someone help me. If you are here Gkul u can help me too. Heh. smile.gif

no. of hours x what you think your hour is worth.
then double or triple the total

charge as much as humanly possible. set a minimum price at the back of your mind and don't take the job if it goes below it. Have some standards and don't spoil it for the rest.

off the top of my head, don't do it for below RM400

edit: heck, just charge them RM1000+. Know your clients and how much they are willing to pay.

waoh..Rm1000 for 1 min 2D animation..

does it overpricey?

i think RM400 is a reasonable margin.

U will scare the client away wif Rm1000, mostly. Unless u r a Pixar animator then they will be glad to be ur Honour client.

No. I charged RM 800 for 30s 3D videos before.

Not overpriced. We shouldn't let our heads get stepped on

hmm, 1 min of 2d anim...
well, first of all, know your client.
if u think u're gonna do a lot of work, put a high price tag.
it will motivate u when u're a lil bit lazy. wink.gif

no pixar animator would even meet with you for a deal less than 2000USD... and that's probably an underestimate

a project is worth as much as the client is willing to pay, NOT as much as you think the project is worth.
Microsoft can pay you 20K for the same thing you did for some chinaman worth 1k.

but of course, it is your own choice to make.... remember, if he ever gives you another project, he'll be expecting the same price or even less.

Hmm.. 1 minute 2D animation.. depending on how fast you work, the quality and details you're giving, the style you have that might be different, the client..

I'd go with my $ per hour X hours I'll take to complete (inclusive of a buffer) and later make sure in the T&C, it clearly states what changes are liable and what extra changes made would cost them more. smile.gif

Cheers.
