Hi sifus I have a55 with kits and 50mm 1.8. Basically I will be going For dinner tonight, wanna shoot some amoi. I think I will use 50mm since it has larger aperture for low light condition. What setting should I use? The lighting would be a bit of yellowish and dim. How to set WB? ISO 800 a55 can tahan? Aperture 1.8 for individual, 4-5 for two people? Thanks in advance

If i wanna do occasionally macro shooting, extension tube or +10 close up filter is better?

Dun wan to spend on macro lens yet :S

  raynox is kind of expensive for me as macro lens is just rm 300+ for 2nd hand one..
mind elaborate more on why extension tube is difficult to use( currently referring to mf ones)?

but raynox has a limitation.
1. it only can use with lens with filter thread of 52-67mm (just took out my raynox manual)
2. sometimes its hard to keep them, (taking off the cap is difficult ) and if u let it stay mount on the adapter, the rear side has no protection.
3. ermmmm i cant think of anymore... main problem was the 52-67... so, those big 77mm thread, sorry la...

Who say A77 cannot use? It's the lens, not the camera. U got the camera in hand already you will understand one la, now talk also no use what. U go buy A200 play play can edi la. Why bother waiting for A77/88/99/00??

jimlim007: The benefits of the AF confirm chip are:

- the chip reports a focal length, e.g. 50mm, which allows for SteadyShot to happen. This might be important if you shoot video. The longer the lens, the more the sensor needs to move, so if you put a 50mm chip on a 300mm lens, it won't be as effective as a 300mm chip on a 300mm lens.
- AF confirm happens (green dot).
- the chip reports aperture, e.g. F1.7, but setting the aperture anything other than F1.7 means you will also have to stop down the lens before you shoot - if you set it to F3.5 but leave the lens wide open, your shutter speed will be 4 times slower and overexposed by 2 EV.

I find that the green dot is not accurate enough when manual focusing - even though you are near focus it will still light up. Peaking also isn't extremely accurate. The best is still to use the 14x magnify like on the A77.

If you plan to use a wider manual focus lens, it is okay to use without a chip e.g. 50mm F1.4 as long as you have Check Focus Live View (A33/A35/A55/A65/A77/A450/A500/A550/A560/A580 and all NEX bodies).

I have an Opteka 85mm F1.4 (rebadged from Samyang). I initially had the AF chip, then it dropped off and I can't find it. The EVF does show the green dot also on a chipped lens.

Yes, the wonderful thing about the EVF is that you can magnify - in fact I use that a lot with the Samyang 35mm F1.4 and 85mm F1.4. I can't rely so much on peaking, but then maybe I need to lower the peaking level to Low - will find out tonight if it makes a difference.

reset your smart Tele. button to Focus magnifier and there you go~

I received a call from a scammer today that said I owe credit card company some money. I said I did not have this credit card before. They said it's possible that my identity had been stolen and asked me to call BANK NEGARA - PUSAT PENGURUSAN KAD PALSU. I called the number they gave me and they asked me to RESET MY PIN NUMBER FOR MY ATM CARD at the ATM MACHINE. I called Bank Negara via their number on their website to double confirm. BANK NEGARA TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT EVER FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS! BANK NEGARA DO NOT HAVE A PUSAT PENGURUSAN KAD PALSU DEPARTMENT! EVER! FOLLOWING THEIR INSTRUCTIONS WILL ONLY CAUSE ALL YOUR MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THEM VIA YOUR ATM CARD!

This is a real case and it happened to me this morning. Please share this info with all your friends and prevent this fraud!
