hey guys, since the day i bought my dv6-6001tx (around july last year) there's a problem
where the LAN card just wont connect at gigabit speeds and stuck at 100mbps instead.
I've checked everything (and i do mean EVERYTHING smile.gif ) - drivers, cat5e/cat6, different OS
and so on but it just wont work..... So I'm thinking there's a loose pin somewhere in the
lan port (gigabit requires all 8 pins) and plan to send it to HP towers and replace the motherboard
but I have two questions to ask before sending it for repairs:

1. do i need to backup all the files in my laptop although I just need them to change the motherboard?
(reluctant because not enough space in external hdd smile.gif )
2. currently I need to enter my password to log into windows..... do i need to disable it?

thanks in advance smile.gif

1. Backup most important files you can and tell them not to reformat because there is database/important file for business. ph34r.gif
2. Maybe just create another admin account for them? You can simply delete it after that.

Hey guys, need some help here.... about a month ago I sent my 6001tx for warranty repair (something related to the LAN card) and when I get my laptop back I noticed that the motherboard had been replaced but i think its a used model (lots of dust in HDMI and other ports).... I'm okay with that and everything is well up until today... i was using my laptop and suddenly the whole screen just went blank followed by a 'pop' sound... and then I can't turn it back on anymore sad.gif

So all I need to know is are there any 'further warranty' for parts that are replaced by HP service centre? (In my case it's the motherboard )

Thanks in advance....

Oh ya one more thing... I noticed my laptop says 'warranty: 1y1y0y'... does it mean that the warranty period is two years? hmm.gif

owhh crapp.. my warranty ended one day after i got my laptop back from HP last month sad.gif .... which means the '1y1y0y' is actually not two years..

oh well I guess I have to go to hp towers again to check with them.... thanks anyway smile.gif
