I own a dv6-6c19tx model

im havin a problem wit my wifi ..using atheros wifi adapter..i tried updating to the latest bios/wifi driver but still facing intermittent connection...my office laptop works fine wit the wifi...Any ideas guys?

heard about changing the broadcast channel of the router ...but not sure how to do it ..using unifi/dlink router..ur help wud be greatly appreciated

1. There is no harm in using Dynamic Disk just that u cant use it in Window ME or below which i doubt people still use that and also Linux.
2. 64bit to .net4? You want to install .net4?

Do you know how to access your Dlink router? If you're using Dlink DIR-615 this is the username and pass.
Username : Management
Password :TestingR2
Router page : 192.168.1.1

Btw, when it happened.. do you need to restart the router? Or you need to restart your laptop?

1.i see a lot of hp stuff pop up whenever i boot up my lappy,how can i get rid of it?
2.the build in hp cool sense of mine just show up the ON or OFF options instead of max/min/user as what i see after my digging.
3.i heard that i7 proc will generate alot more heat than i3 i5, is it why i can feel very warm at the bottom of the left hand side of my trackpad?

I got a little bit problem with my dv6=6c19tx software.

The Norton antivirus come with the laptop is already expired and i have unistalled it so dat i can install it with kapersky.

the problem is, when i try to install kapersky, it shows dat there are still norton left in my system.


Does anyone know how to fully uninstall the Norton files because i already uninstall it thru the control panel function.

Hi Acid,

yes im using a Dlink DIR-615 .. i've restarted my router a couple of times but dat doesnt seem to be the issue .on my office laptop the wifi is working fine.. but on the dv6 it tends to intermittent...it gets connected and the nx couple of seconds i get limited connectivity/no network access at all ...n the router is nx to me so i dont think distance is an issue n so does interference.. i believe its the dv6 atheros wifi adapter itself...

one more thing guys ..is there any issue with the 7690M XT card? .. i read alot of complains about it in this thread

have u tried to reinstall the wifi driver? try to remove it than reinstall again. probably some driver bugs.

and regarding the gfx, 7690m is just rebrand from 6770m with the clock speed different. some of them just dont believe that its a rebrand by AMD.

@acid, this few days my laptop fan keep running full speed and producing heat although i didn't on any heavy programme or game.
and i noticed the cpu value keep staying max.

1. Check 2nd post, there is a out of the box guide on what to do when u receive your laptop. You can skip to bloatwares part if you want.
2. HP Coolsense version 2.0 and over only have On and Off button. IMO, that's all you need.
3. Sure i7 will generate more heat but regarding left palm rest you might want to switch to Intel HD to reduce the temp. It was caused by trapped heat and aluminium under it.
4. I have no clue about it but yes, heat definitely the main factor. I rarely unplug my battery even when i'm gaming. After a year now my battery wear level = 9.5%
5. I never do that.


You can try install Windows Install Clean Up and check if there is still an entry for Norton.

I'm not quite get it.. so you can connect to access point but u can't surf internet? Or you can't see the access point at all? If its the latter, probably your home wifi channel was out of the range for your wifi card.

Regarding that 7690M in HP forum, just ignore it. That clarkson dude just making a mess for his incapability to troubleshoot. He making the same mess in Guru3d forum.

+1 When it 1st release, the GPU was at the top of the midrange class for laptop.. somehow a year later people expect it to perform like high end card.


What u meant by can't detect? Cannot switch or no option at all? If it the latter, uninstall your Intel HD and install Leshcat 12.2 WHQL UP5 driver.
