u're lucky then...sad.gif

i'm the unlucky one with U2 below it (which seems a waste of money) doesnt help on heat reduction at all
note to self: next time play game/do heavy duty stuff on hp in an air con room only

crap, if they really give me that dynamic switching mobo...then how exactly am i going use the ATI card for important matter?

eg: ATI for ME3 and in full screen mode
      ATI for 3d max rendering/progress
*
I just play Skyrim for 1h+ with max CPU temp = 83c with TurboBoost limited to x23 multiplier and max GPU temp = 78c in non-aircond room.
I guess u just had a really bad thermal paste application.

No worries about ME3 in dynamic but you gonna have problem with 3DsMax since it use OpenGl? You can't use dGPU on OpenGl with Dynamic switching or is it 3DsMax can use D3D as well?

They say they will try their best, hopefully

well, i think so...
when take back the laptop, i think i should play game in a limited time then. and also need ur consultation

???i'm not too knowledgeable in the hardware dept. sweat.gif well, as long as it is using ATI card i dont think it is a problem for 3dsmax, coz before this incident, 3ds max seem ok with the ati card

well, everything can only know after i get back my laptop, as they said "we dont keep stock, we have to order, depending which part we need to repair ur laptop" so most likely they will order according to my laptop original mobo series? hopefully

Maybe u can give them a call and confirm it because you 100% can't use AMD GPU with 3DsMax if u're on Dynamic switching(6100 series mobo). sad.gif

Sorry for the late reply...
The Answer is : Simple, I didn't. The thickness of this caddy when fit into the bay is precise and it holds it in tightly. furthermore is convenient for me to remove the drive with one less screw to remove. However it's best to secure the HDD in the caddy with the provide screws so that it won't move up down, especially I like to put the laptop on Standby then dump into the bag.

Sonovab-... I see what I was doing wrong back when I tried to do the same thing now.

Just one question: how did you manage to mount the metal bracket at the back of the DVD drive to the caddy?

I'm just wondering why HP has discontinued the DV7-6c00TX and DV6-6168TX. Any idea, anyone?

What kind of bagpack and cooler do you guys use?
And do you guys use screen protectors and keyboard protectors? I'm thinking of getting some.

well, keyboard protectors helps in preventing unwanted things enter yor keyboard but it also blockade of air intake via the keyboard. u can try this, put a piece of paper on top of yor keyboard and use it normally, test the temperature of yor laptop. compare it the result. than u will noe wat i mean.

I hate using a messenger bag for my laptop, puts a shitload of weight on one shoulder. Which is...painful.
So yeah. I'm thinking of getting the U3. Since I can adjust where I want the fans to be.
