I'm confused too.. some said 10 days. Others said 60 and 90 days. I

registered mine on 30 June which was 2 months over my purchased date. But in the Care Pack Registration form, i put "Care Pack Registration Date" on 28/4/2011.

i bought mine from thundermatch ( they said within 10 days wor... )

Hey can anyone tell me about HP Pavilion DV6-6180US ? This guy at garage sales is sellling it at2600 only without the beats headphone . Is it cheap?  And I heard its a imported set. What about that ? Thanks !
*
mean only 1 year warranty... cannot extend the warranty locally like others here who can extend to 3 years warranty....

yes it's imported set as it's a US model not malaysian set...

it's up to u whether you feel its cheap or not since the malaysian model sets are at the first page with the specs listed down already...

Based on that source and sentence, to my understanding, it means that once you BUY the CARE PACK, you have to activate the CARE PACK within 10 days of purchase.

But it still doesn't explain how long we have till the CARE PACK service doesn't apply once we purchased our laptops.

I think to be safe just register it within 10 days.

Not so much. The real bottleneck is HDD. Getting SSD or Hybrid HDD probably help a lot.

Having problems updating video driver on my 6168TX.

I downloaded sp55092.exe from the HP website and tried to install it. A message came out saying "your screen will blink or go dark..."

It went dark. Absolutely dark. And stayed this way for several HOURS.

I forced a shutdown by keeping the power button pressed. Then went to Windows startup options and selected "last known good" settings. The laptop is now working normally, but with old drivers.

Any tips/info on how I can update my video driver successfully?

SSD, isnt really a feasible option for now unless sacrificing the dvdrom slot...

if replacing HDD(without sacrificing DVDrom slot) then its either facing
- too small SSD capacity(if wanna spend less) or
- too expensive SSD price (if buy bigger capacity)

hybrid HDD? momentus XT? or wat else u recommend?

what about total 8gb vs 16gb ram?... any idea where to get single 8GB Sodimm? not mainstream yet i believe

Nope, it was not on "fixed." On the bios, it was on "dynamic."

Should I put it on "fixed?"

Addendum: I just got a bluescreen after using VLC player to play a downloaded DVDRip. The bluescreen pointed to "atikmpag.sys" as the culprit. I guess I really need to update my video drivers...

Yeah Momentus XT or probably 2nd gen Momentus XT?

I'm using 8GB without pagefile on and i never runs out of memory. The only time i get "not enough memory, please close down blabla" was when i'm playing BF3 with eBoostr using 3GB for caching. I dropped it to 2.5GB and windows never complain anymore.

I don't think 16GB DDR3 1333mhz vs 8GB DDR3 1333mhz make any difference unless u're planning to run a weather station many virtual machine..

8GB Sodimm.. i think i saw in eBay. Pretty exp.

Yeah, try put it on Fixed and use HD6770M when u updating the driver. Don't worry so much about "atikmpag.sys" BSOD.. we all experienced that at least once.. try to turn off DXVA in VLC.

Haha.. I hope there is no unseen degradation happening. sweat.gif

For Skyrim player.. apparently Skyrim was developed with x87 instruction set. That's explained about very poor CPU optimization especially when u're in town. Even those with HD5870 having serious frame drop to 10-20 frame/sec in town. shakehead.gif
There is a serious tweak to improve it here. Anyone willing to try it? tongue.gif
