Some performance RAM, their timings are much tighter than normal RAMs. But the difference in stock condition is negligible. But if you're into Overclocking, it'll be totally different ball game!
specifically - overclocking of RAM.overclocking of processor, any value RAM also fine.

My rule regarding this matter is that if you had to ask you probably don't need it. It is the truth and you will definitely not find a OC United member to come here and ask whether it is worth the money to get performance RAM because for what they do, performance RAM makes a difference.
+1 to this too.some application improve with RAM setting, like say folding@home where higher speed and tighter timings can boost PPD.
