i wanted to purchase a console, and PS3 and Wii is shortlisted in my mind.

I've dig some research on net, that PS3 is able to plug in usb keyboard and mouse, i assume this is only useful for chatting and browsing the net, right?

My question is,
1.what browser does this PS3 uses?
2.can it actually browse sites like facebook?
3.does it load sites that requires flash?
4.what about youtube?
5.Can i load meebo? Tweetdeck? Skype?

6.I know it can download things, but can it also install torrentwarez and download torrent files? Else how does it do download?

7.All the above, can Wii perform the same?

8.Also, can they use USB broadband? there's no LAN cable in my house.

9.I know PS3 can play Blu-ray, can it play Matroska videos which are usually being ripped from blu-ray/HDTV?
what bout RMVB? MPEG?

10. i read also that PS3 UK now can record tv movies. It's just a simple firmware upgrade right? Does the firmware has country limit? I can update firmware myself FREE right?

11. for all the above, is there any feature at all that Wii is better than PS3?

8. No. But you can buy a 3G MiFi hotspot, good enough. Both has WiFi built in.
9. MPEG is yes. Others are no. Unless you have TwonkyServer or Windows Media Center share and play files hosted on these computers.
10. PS3 UK record movie using a DVB-T USB tuner dongle. Even if you can obtain the dongle and get it working, all you will be able to get is RTM Digital test signal- RTM1, RTM2, Muzik Aktif, Ilham, Panggung. It's digital only iirc. As for region, I suspect it's partial. PS3 has no region for current PS3 games and PSN downloads, but it will have region specific lockdowns. I.e. my US PS3 has the useless-in-Malaysia NetFlix function, but no options to detect for TV tuner. I've never seen the NetFlix option on the PS3s sold locally. Also, games are allowed to query what region console they're being played on to adjust features accordingly (for example, Asian copy of SSFIV plays in English and has the Vega-Bison-Balrog name swap when played on my US PS3).

nope i don't need a gaming pc, i just try to see if the PS3/Wii can be all-in-1 console.

I'm planning to buy a gift for my sis's new home, which can substitute a DVD player (and with PS3 it's Blu-ray ^^), a somewhat online device so my sis can just sit on the couch to watch movie/connect to the internet/play some light games to past times when she's pregnant.

so now as far as RAMCHyld has input me, i think Wii should be good enough if solely buy for my sis...and it's cheaper too.
But still ragu-ragu as i personally would prefer PS3

Agreed. Wii games may need you to flail arms like mad. Not good for pragnent women (but good for toddler age kids- after her kid born and grow up a bit, it would be good fun for the family). On the other hand, there's also games for Wii that doesn't need movement, i.e Virtual Console games, SSB Brawl. Animal Crossing I think you can also get around using the motion part of the game.

I also have all 3, but the one that is collecting dust is the xbox. Since Malaysia has no XBL (Ms say not yet, but didn't say when) and my mom force me to shut down my SG XBL account when she find out I used my uncle's address.

is there any PS3 games which are not too hardcore? ladies can play without thinking..definitely no RPG..

Eyepet. But that one requires people to move around a bit.
Another one is LittleBigPlanet. Although that game is hard to find nowadays. For some reason I cannot find it on PSN Store (am I blind?) and disc no longer on sale at any Sony Center or game shop I'm searching.

buy her a vita..IT DOES EVERYTHING

when buying either consoles, buy original set. never buy those jailbreak sets for wii and xbox, you will regret big time.
