Ok guys, I confirm a bug, at least on my Note... maybe it's a firmware bug...if you set your phone to GSM only (means you are on EDGE).. you will get out of service error when calling and receiving call.. Maybe you guys can help to test out...

Go to Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Network Mode... Set it to GSM only.. then try calling... see if you can make successsful connection... I'm on stock ROM with Maxis line...

I bought an original Samsung Galaxy Note...

I had bought this phone as at first I thought the 1.4Ghz processor would be much more superior to the Samsung Galaxy S2 19100 model..

Indeed, not much difference..

My question is that when I immediately bought the Note, I put in a 4.2 Gb 720p AC3 mkv blue ray video...
No doubt that the playback is wonderful..
But then when you try to fastforward, the Note just crash..
It hangs and then I have to press the home button..
I was not satisfied and I keep on trying and trying for 6 more times..
In all times it still crashes the stock video player...

Does anybody else face this problem?

Don't use stock video player... I'm surprised it can play the mkv file... btw, are you sure you can copy it to your SD card.... it has to be less than 4GB file becasue of FAT32 restriction...

if you want... try MX or Dice player..

Confirmed that, was around in V2 or V3 of this thread.  Just switch to Auto (GSM/WCDMA). GSM connectivity is terrible.

Damn... I want to switch to Edge/GSM when on standby or not using data much.. it save a lot of juice... custom ROM/radio got such issue as well?

correct file. extract the zip one level down to tar file. further extract you get zimage file. you need the file in tar format
The file name should be just : CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.tar  . NOTE the tar extension

Benny, have been reading your posts and taking notes on the upgrade to 2.3.6 since yesterday and now ready to take the plunge... after the firmware is downloaded... 300mb to go... smile.gif

anyway, I am in the same situation as cynox... I have stock 2.3.5 kk1 rom, rooted but NOT installed with CWM... has mobile odin and currently downloading the KL3 firmware....

I will proceed with the below steps :

1. Launch mobile odin
2. Select OPEN FILE - and browse and choose the stock 2.3.6 firmware tar file (N7000DXKL3_N7000OLBKL2_XME.tar.md5)
You will see a listing of all the files selected : kernel, system, data, modem etc etc
3. Replace the kernel file with the CWM extracted tar file : CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.tar and leave everything else as default
4. Select flash firmware
5. Sit back and pray...smile.gif

Will update again when I've done it...

Thanks Benny for all your help... appreciate it very much...

Updates on the above :

Successfully updated the firmware... took about 10 minutes total, first time boot-up will take slightly longer than normal.. flashing system is the longest time consumed..

Benny thanks for all your instructions... it works flawlessly...

I need to buy you a beer wink.gif
