just got my OTG and MHL HDMI adaptor today. Is there a way to connect a 120GB external hard disk via the OTG cable? Googled around and found that looks like the Note only support FAT32 and thus limit the size to only 32GB. I read somewhere saying the Note can read exFAT but seems like i remember wrongly.

thinking of using the Note, a OTG cable, a SD card reader and a external hard disk as the combo to be my mobile storage for my DSLR when i am going overseas trip. If anyone manage to get it work this way or any other way, please share.

The "Advanced Clock Widget" can include the name of the Mobile/WiFi Network at your home screen.

seems like there is a new official firmware update for Note? will it break Root? thanks.

no one can give me some pointers? or no one using stock rom with root any more.

my question was whether the latest firmware update will break the root. I think i found the answer from reading in this thread and elsewhere - it will break the root if you update via Kies, if want to keep the root, need to download the firmware from sammobile and update thru Odin Pro, correct?

just started downloading the firmware from hotfiles now. Will update tonight only after getting crystal clear on what is going on.

hi, Benny, can you post your method once again? I tried search your previous posts but can't seems to find it.

Currently my Note is with stock 2.3.5 rom, rooted but NOT installed with CWM. If i want to update to 2.3.6 stock rom and still get the ROOT (CWM not essential) without increase the flash counter, what is the best way to do it?

I have just finish download the Stock 2.3.6 from Sammobile.com. And already bought Mobile Odin Pro from Market. Any other files/tools that i need?

EDIT: Found a zImage file inside the CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.zip - is this the tar file you mentioned? it has no file extension.

YES!!! holy cow.... my Note feel so much smoother/faster now with ADW Launcher EX. Press the centre button to wake up the phone also almost instant now. Previously, need like a second for the screen to show up.

most likely no. I use mobile odin to upgrade my stock rom 2.3.5 rooted to 2.3.6, din bother to backup with titanium backup.

but without root, you can use mobile odin? i think it need root. So you need to root first on 2.3.5. Correct me if i am wrong.

"around the corner" may take another month or two. use benny's method can upgrade to 2.3.6 without breaking root. Just upgraded mine - my Note feel so much smoother/faster now.
