just got my OTG and MHL HDMI adaptor today. Is there a way to connect a 120GB external hard disk via the OTG cable? Googled around and found that looks like the Note only support FAT32 and thus limit the size to only 32GB.
thinking of using the Note, a OTG cable, a SD card reader and a external hard disk as the combo to be my mobile storage for my DSLR when i am going overseas trip. If anyone manage to get it work this way or any other way, please share. thank you. Added on January 3, 2012, 12:29 pm QUOTE(aeronlim @ Jan 3 2012, 12:03 PM) hi, want to ask how can I saw the Digi icon at the Home screen of SGN? As if I travel oversea I will know which local mobile network that I'm connected to. This is useful when I'm at Bukit Kayu Hitam, we don't know whether the network is with Digi or other local Thailand mobile network, thanks. if you are roaming on foreign network, you mobile signal will have a "R" sign. The "Advanced Clock Widget" can include the name of the Mobile/WiFi Network at your home screen. This post has been edited by Cynox: Jan 3 2012, 12:29 PM |

QUOTE(Lazyboy @ Jan 5 2012, 09:32 AM) my question was whether the latest firmware update will break the root. I think i found the answer from reading in this thread and elsewhere - it will break the root if you update via Kies, if want to keep the root, need to download the firmware from sammobile and update thru Odin Pro, correct? just started downloading the firmware from hotfiles now. Will update tonight only after getting crystal clear on what is going on. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jan 5 2012, 10:40 AM) The Chainfire file matching to your kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 hi, Benny, can you post your method once again? I tried search your previous posts but can't seems to find it. the problem is all KL* firmware if you run the bat file, most users has reported cannot successfully have it root and CWM installed. My method overcome this Currently my Note is with stock 2.3.5 rom, rooted but NOT installed with CWM. If i want to update to 2.3.6 stock rom and still get the ROOT (CWM not essential) without increase the flash counter, what is the best way to do it? I have just finish download the Stock 2.3.6 from Sammobile.com. And already bought Mobile Odin Pro from Market. Any other files/tools that i need? Many thanks. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jan 5 2012, 01:20 PM) 1. Launch mobile odin thanks a million - short and precise. 2. Select OPEN FILE - and browse and choose the stock 2.3.6 firmware tar file You will see a listing of all the files selected : kernel, system, data, modem etc etc 3. Replace the kernel file with the CWM extracted tar file ( MUST be in tar format ) 4. Select flash firmware this method will not increase counter But just to be safe - the kernel file in step 3 is the one at CF-Root XDA thread - CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.zip, correct? thanks again. EDIT: Found a zImage file inside the CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.zip - is this the tar file you mentioned? it has no file extension. This post has been edited by Cynox: Jan 5 2012, 02:22 PM |

QUOTE(Edoras @ Jan 5 2012, 05:13 PM) Is it worth the upgrade to 2.3.6 when the 4.0 ICS is around the corner? "around the corner" may take another month or two. use benny's method can upgrade to 2.3.6 without breaking root. Just upgraded mine - my Note feel so much smoother/faster now. I just want to avoid the hassle of Rooting it back. QUOTE(Edoras @ Jan 5 2012, 05:16 PM) heard others at XDA say yes but i dun have one to try. |
