Easiest and best way : Zergrush exploit

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

You can followup with installing CWM - Clockworkmod recovery. Download the appropriate kernel files based on your kernel from:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

If you have upgraded to latest KL3 - than the above 2 will not work. You need to downgrade to 2.3.5 , say KK1 and use above steps to root. If you want the latest KL3 on your phone, than just follow my method which I have listed in post# 2663
*
Thanks ckyned and benny.
I have downgraded my 2.3.6 to 2.3.5.
I saw the thread below and it works easily (Root + CWM). Its quite similar to the threads you showed.
Now my device is Rooted + CWM.

SOURCE: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-note-all-t...3-n-finish.html

Now the question - is it really worth to upgrade the Stock 2.3.6 using Mobile Odin (to maintain the Root) or flash any other Custom Cooked ROMS?

worth it or not, u have to try it yourself. custom rom, there's some advantages like theming, performance tweak etc. plus, if u flash custom rom directly, mostly u have u dont have to worry about root because most of them already rooted. =)
CWM is come in handy when u want to backup your whole phone. thumbup.gif

I currently using it right now. I used FULL wipe version (321mb) one. 1st time a lot of bug. I reflashed again with manual full wipe, seems Ok right now. no major bug found. =)
*
U mean to perform a manual wipe before flashing it, or after flashing wipe it again. Coz i'm also using the Full Wipe version. Is there a non-wipe version??? I dont remember seeing one.

You do a full wipe before flashing the rom zip. OR if your phone failed to reboot, just boot back to recovery to wipe it
Most users who flash from stock rom needs to wipe phone before can successfully flash it
However subsequent upgrades to the rom or even other roms , no need to wipe phone

I flashed CheckROM from Rocket. Rocket didnt give me much problem except for the lagging browser and random force closes.

CheckROM is giving me some force close and bugs with the touchscreen.

I saw it at 1 Utama SEP. Didn't ask how much it was. I think it was the 1A version.

Anyway, the link you provided shows a 2.1A version but the picture shows the one for 1A. The correct picture should be this one;

Bro. I'm using channel 11, still can't connect.

Is it cud be due to the security settings on the router ?

Strange, as I can connect to my laptop and tablet using channel 11, but not my G Note.

Any ideas ?
Tks all
What wireless router are you using?

Switch off N. Use G only.

QUOTE(creap @ Jan 7 2012, 10:10 AM)
Are you using Unifi? If yes, then probably the stock router is the culprit here. I changed mine to TP-Link and this connectivity issue just disappeared.
That's right. Unifi stock routers are crappy. Wost when you neighbourhood also have their own Wi-Fi signals.

Go to their SC personally and bang table. Make some noise and demand to see their tech. In Malaysia, that seems to be the only way to get anybody's attention when all else fails.

No wonder users have bigger external SD card to store a lot more custom ROMS! tongue.gif It seems I need to get abigger one too.
So, let me summarize what I learn about Android tools.
1 - Use ODIN to flash stock ROM
2 - Use Mobile Odin to flash new ROM without the use of PC.
3 - Use CWM to backup and restore ROMs.

Any other important utilities?

If your phone is rooted, buy Titanium Backup Pro - best tool to backup and restore all your apps and supporting data. This is the best app for Android - it is so good when it was at the developmental stage I donated another 4 X of the offered price to the developer before it was released officially to the Market

I am using the D Link from TM Net, square type, under so called Innocom something like that.
Using channel 11.

Will try to go to public wifi to use my GNote to determine that whether it can connect via public wifi, to ensure it is indeed router set up problem and not my GNote wifi software problem

It is most probably the unifi modem - the famous Black router issue ; have been reading too many users complaining connecting their SGS II, SGW and Galaxy Tabs ( 7, 7+, 10.1) and Note. I am using DLink at home, never used those modem supplied by TMNet

try recalibrate your Horizontal & Gyroscope regarding that touchscreen.

no leh. i am using streamyx. TM Net provided me with the D Link/TP Link black square type, with the word innocom (something like that).

strange thing is, both my laptop n tablet can connect, but my GNote can't connect at all. always showing obtaining IP......sigh... cry.gif

I will go to public wifi n try using the GNote to connect ...to determine its the router set up...etc and not my GNote wifi software/hardware problem..

Any ideas ? icon_question.gif
