Good day,

I am currently in need of a car and Peugeot comes into my mind. Previously drove a 206 and met accident. Didn't own a car since then, 4 years ago.

Due to tight commitments, i am currently aiming for a Peugeot 406 and 405. Seeing that the chance to get a pristine condition 406, i am setting a 405 as an alternative.

My question is;

a. How are the spare parts availability? I read that some parts are not easy to find, original / second hand / OEM.

b. any common problems should i look out for?

Looking forward for a prompt reply regarding this matter to support my confidence in settling down on a 405.

I am aware parts are expensive and my question are not due to pricing.

the one at home, got money also cannot find parts already. mechanic say if break down again write it off not worth fixing.

unless you want to collect the car, if you want to use it I don't think its a wise choice.

The 405, if u can get a manual, maybe ok for everyday usage, it's worth about RM4-5k or lower now.

The 406 earlier version, high fuel consumption + power so-so. Last batch like same engine with 407, very good FC.

I just sold my 405 SRi (M) last april for RM9k. Owned the car for 3 years. PM me your questions. My advice, some of the parts, even if you have money to buy, is no longer available. Very nice car though smile.gif

You can get it from chop shop near batu cave, normally i go to ripon in batu cave.. near giant and behind petronas. The problem now a day is the spare part become rare and expensive, last time try to get radiator and only one radiator left there.

woah...not worth to own 405 in that case unless we are collectors and have $$ to import parts from overseas

Maintenance cost for 406 is higher than 405, even though the later is an older car. I owned both before.

I just inherited one of this car, need a lot of part to repairs. Power window, windshield, door trim etc. You guys can recommend a good kedai potong that can get a good price? Or a good mechanics that can handle continental car at Seri Kembangan area?

check out peugeot club malaysia. they have many 405 veterans there. parts are available but you need to know where to find. regular spare parts shops will all give you the same answer as they only stock up on japanese car parts. you can find the club from the link below:

the 405 was one of the best handling cars of its time and many prefer it to the 406 due to its simplicity.

I own both of it . They put-up a good & wild show on Malaysiana roads . Both run on the same engine . Your term "better" highly depends on individual preferences as the former is a sedan , whereas the latter is a hatchback . Its current value for money is about RM5K max !!! ... Napolean Bonaparte on the go .
Do you intend to get one of these ???
