what you quoted about maxis having stock everyday is very true.
they have limits on how many sets will be sold on present day so that they still have stocks for the next few days before restock
*
Which i really don't see the point.

The point is preventing new customer going to other telcos.

Stocks have limits regardless if they have plenty. Hence good inventory control can really prevent loses and help planning stock ordering.

How to prevent customer from going other telcos by selling limited stock a day?
People get annoy if they keep listening there is stock but when go center then don't have stock. It gets worst after a few attempts.

Each outlet given for eg, 50 units hence guarantee there will be 50 customers from each day.

Like i say, u cant satisfy all coz u dont have that much supply to meet that demand.

If your stock control is bad, 1st day already all sold out the stock. Totally no stock, hence you cant even achieve the 50 customer per day. it will be 0 customer per day.

Those that didnt get to buy 50 50 chances that they will come back or go another telco. Hence still got chance, but if u totally sold out u totally lost that 50% chance.

Say they have 10K units now
Scenario 1 - No stock control scenario
- They sell all out in 3 days, they get 10K customers within 3 days.
- 4th day all people know maxis out of stock, they think of their on way to get the phone
Scenario 2 - Stock control scenario
- They sell 10 unit per day, they get 10 customers per day. They need 100 days to get the 10K customer.
- Within these 100 days, some customer might fed up and buy out right or get from other telco (if other telco have stock)
- day 1 to day 100 customer complain why some people can buy it while they can't
- day 101th all people know maxis out of stock, they think of their on way to get the phone

I don't see scenario 2 make any good. Maybe we need a marketing guy to further explain.

Scenario 1, there are 3 days for them to restock the phone from Apple.
Scenario 2, there are 100 days for them to restock the phone from Apple.

With scenario 2, they can maintain the flow of stocks.

So the wise method is to control the stock such that new order arrive from Apple every 100 days...this will maintain a steady flow of stocks.

The flow stock is so important huh. hmm.gif

10units is too little. Outlets like Klcc have allocation roughly to 50 to 100 units per day.

Dont forget there are 5 major outlets aka maxis center. There are plenty of MEPs which also get a lil share of the allocation.

So per day they might be doing atleast 1000 units. Hence spare it over 5days = 5k units.

Wait for shipment roughly 4days. Hence a good control by the time u sold 5ks, your inventory has already been replenished.

Those that cant get the stock will just have to come back tomorrow. If they really keen they will wait.

I am one of the buyer that didnt went digi. I hunted the unit for 3days straight

10 unit is just an example.
Wah, you are super keen. Go there 3 days. thumbup.gif
