Paper clay are good choice, but I'm not comfortable with the "fast dry out" fallback. Plasitine is cheaper choice, but too soft and YES .. very dirty biggrin.gif!

Well if you notice on my blog, I'm actually using a type of eraser as material.

PROs:
- No oil
- Reusable
- Easy to shape

CONs:
- a little smelly (less smell than plasitine)
- softer than real clay, don't get hard/solid
- only 1 color available (grey)

It cost me only RM2.00 per piece, 2 pieces are already enough to make something ... but in quantity it can be costly tongue.gif.

For my opinion, it can replace putty in some condition!

Haha ... same here, even my lecturer caught me playing it in the class (P.s: I'm studying IT course, so my lecturer have no knowledge of the little piece of shit in my hand ... biggrin.gif ). The only thing that troubles me is ... it mix with all my stationary and stick on them!

i used..rubber dust leftovers to make a large bouncy ball once..i think i gave it away

rubber dust is:

easy to get
squishy
does not stick to other object besides rubber
not that smelly
when hard, it's bouncy
