I am currently using an ASUS and must say the GUI is not really good compared to ACRyan.

As for RMVB, Asus supports it but dont think WDTV does

Yes, ACRyan plays RMVB too. My choice, since I have used both, is ACRyan

With the Mini, you cannot install an internal HDD. You need to either use an external USB HDD or via network. So, it really depends on how you want to manage and access your file library.

Thanks TS for starting up this thread, i myself wanted to discuss this topic before i make my plunge to a HD Media player.
I have 3 players in mind that is , WDTV live, ASUS O'play HD2 and AC Ryan Play On mini. After doing lots of reading and comparism. The WDTV has lots of disadvantage such as unsupported for RMVB, True-HD/ DTS-MA pass through and etc.
For those owners of the Asus and AC Ryan, can you guys enlighten me which one works better cause both has almost similar espect terms of codec support, audio capability and media encoding.please advice???

Since you need RMVB, WDTV is out. Of Asus and ACRyan, the latter is definitely better and richer in terms of features and user friendliness

Web surfing too? If you are willing to part with RM860, ACRyan's latest model, Veolo is nice. Here's a review

I have not used K-world before. So far, I've used ACRyan and Asus only and honestly, have not used either for websurfing purposes.

To know more about them, I suggest you visit their websites. ACRyan is here

take note ac ryan currently has 4 models:
1. pohd2 (there was old pohd)
2. pohd mini2 (there was old mini)
3. essential
4. veleo

the mini2 is powerful, good enough all round. pohd2 same as mini2 but has built in hdd option.
both pohd2 and mini2 have pre-programmed internet access to some features only - youtube, podcasts, news, weather, radio but not www access. has bittorrent download feature.
essential is cheap but does not have lan-nas functions - a pure playback model.
veleo is new and smart (I'm considering), has better internet access via keyboard but does not have dts hdma audio found in pohd2 and mini2. supposedly can stream video direct from www, dunno at what video resolution and audio.

you can post questions for our inhouse specialist boxb at ac ryan thread; don't want to hijack this thread!

I'm looking for a player that can support all video formast.

I bought a home theater system but the player cant play certain video format.

Get an ACRyan Mini 2 is you don't need 3D playback or an ACRyan Mini 3 is you need 3D playback.
