isn't youtube vids can be viewed with html5 too?
you don't really have a need for flash to watch them.

can't you just use the browser and go to youtube site and view it from there?
it does have a browser right?

of course, its not like android, where you have a youtube app,
and can just click that and jump straight to youtube.

a lot of people reporting freezes, non-responsive touch screen, wifi error...etc.

some error can be fixed by firmware updates...
and doesn't affect much on your enjoyment, at least till they come up with a fix.
but, freezes / lock-ups... darn...
since the battery is internal, and you can't hard reset.. how do you remedy that?
have to wait until the battery drains out... nightmares...

unless, they update the firmware with a button combination to reset or something.

shitt.... already pre-order and deposited...

sony already made a deal with skype way before microsoft merging/takeover..
so, skype will stay.... no question about that.
but the "video" calling function, might or might not even, ever see the light of day...

i got a feeling its the latter.

i saw a youtube clip of an app they are creating, for the video calling,
using a 3d character, an avatar, like nintendo mii of some sort...
where it uses a face recognition, and follows your mouth,
your head movement... in real-time.

can be fun at first.... but.
you can't even see the real person on the other side, kinda useless..
at least for me... might as well just use the voice calling function instead.

since its market to Everyone.... especially the young.
they probably, just purposely made it like this.


think about it.. starting with just a simple online game, a lilttle bit of chatting,
skype call... then.. boom...! child pornography...

still got me smartphone for skype video call, youtube-ing... etc.
don't really matter much of the lacking of certain function,
as long as i can play them games... i'm all good.
better be great on one thing, rather than, barely good enough on everything.

if your priority is voip, might as well just get a smartphone... can last double the time.
if using vita just for calling, i don't think you even have a reasonable playing time left.
that seriously kill the purpose of owning one.

unless thats what you intend to do with it... just to call.

if you are using android 2.3 and up,
you can just set it to portable wifi hotspot... it'll just become like any other wifi connection.
I use this with all my stuff; pc, laptop, ps3, and other smartphones,
with umobile 42mbps , 20gb quota, portable and fast speed, its a no-brainer . multiplayer-on-the-go.

nope... to be able to make a call, a normal call, it gotta have a GSM equiped...

unless you are refering to voip.. internet call, like skype..
then, yes... no skype for the moment though, will come in the future update..
and to be able to call landline, you gotta purchase skype credits.

surprisingly, at last it works for me...

didn’t work at home, tried multiple times,
till last night I went to the curve starbucks, using my own line.
found 17 people around me..

thats the good thing,
the bad thing is , it detects my location somewhere in korea.
huhh...?

i’m using the wifi version by the way...
waaay too inaccurate..

i wonder if the people i detect is actually near me,
or actually near the location in korea...

try to go outside, in a commercial place or something.
the only place I tried that can make Near works, is at the Curve shopping mall, the street area.
my ps vita is a wifi version by the way.

at the time, my vita is connected to my smartphone's 3g, using portable wifi hotspot.
but its pretty much useless to me, cause its waaay to inaccurate.
it still detects my location somewhere in korea.
although it can detect around 22 people with vita at the time, and I manage to get a few goodies,
but i'm pretty sure those guys are actually in korea.

hopefully they fix it in the new firmware update.
mehh.. anyway, its fun at first with Near, when you don't really have nothing much to do..
but thats about it.

now i'm just waiting for them new games to come out..
my vita is slowly becoming an ornament on my working table.
