Hi,
Anyone have any link or information on Mac OSX ethernet configuration for unifi?. I'm used to streamyx configuration via PPOE but my place has just got installed with Unifi, so anyone knows the step by step configuration? I'd prefer to connect via LAN cable than wifi. btw, i'm using SLeopard.
Thanks in advance.

Nothing much you need to get connected .. just plug in the ethernet cable to your Mac .. and that should be it .. PPPOE etc are all configured in the router.

Just configure your router for auto dial and just plug in LAN cable or ON your wifi.It should be ok.I think lah because i did not have UNIFI.Just streamyx, but the configuration must be same.

All the configurations are set and stored on your router. You just need to get your Mac connected to your router and you're good to go.

UniFi is tricky to connect to directly because the PPPoE must use with VLAN Tagging. Not sure if Mac ethernet can do that. Best to just connect Mac ethernet to the router instead of direct to GPON ONT.

why even need the ethernet cable? UniFi includes a WiFi router... just connect to the correct WiFi = done!

Thanks all. Surprise, surprise...i just connect the RJ45 cable to the ethernet port on my iMac and it just connected straight away with no configuration whatsoever. It is just that both iMac and the router have to use something like DHCP configuration... well, it just works

i know it is an old thread, but could someone share the setting for MBP? Mine RJ45 cable when connecting to GPON cannot online at all. I mean it is a waste to use the empty slot in router and let the slot at GPON go unused... Is it possible at all to connect to GPON?

I mean it is a waste to use the empty slot in router and let the slot at GPON go unused... Is it possible at all to connect to GPON? Normally you connect to the router not the GPON. Cos the router handles the VLANs and PPPoE. It's actually possible to connect the MBP directly to the GPON ethernet port 1. But you'll have to disconnect your router and then you have to setup VLAN 500 and PPPoE on your MBP.
