The thing with Wenger and Arsenal is that, they withhold the basic economic principle in football. When player reach their prime age, their value will depreciate greatly as year passes. So they'll make the most from the player transfer before their value depreciates greatly. We've seen Henry, Pires, Viera, Campbell and many others being sold before their value depreciate further.

But today's scenario might be different from before. Before this we've the squad with higher average age thus we must sell more older players to make way for younger ones. Today we've more on younger mix and lesser on experienced players. So renewing contract for 1 year is possible, with the condition that Rosicky doesn't request for further increment in wages
