As the title says...
i was talking to my bike shop owner today...
i took my krr 150 to get burnt sparkplug fixed...
i mentioned my admiration of the gixxer 600-750.
He said 'take the Yamaha XJR bro, the spare part and resale value of gixxer is badddd......'
So, may i ask the experts, which CBU (this excludes some kawasakis and yamaha xjr 600...) superbikes (more than 500cc) have the (i)best resale value, with (ii)widespread cheap parts availability in malaysia?
thanks for your input...
(ps - by CBU i want to mean from japan/italy/usa) - thailand only builds below 500cc bikes....rite?)

first of all you must understand the different between CBU and CKD
from my understanding CBU (Complete Build Unit) were shop/importer import them in a "complete physical bike" hence tax is much higher...
but who do you think manufacture kawasaki er6/verys(650cc) for asian market??it's being produce and manufactured by kawasaki thailand....
but kawasaki malaysia import it as CKD (Complete Knock Down) where they will assemble it back in kawasaki factory here....
though i'm not pretty sure as they assemble it completely or the just maybe take down those fairing and maybe wheels and declare it as CKD hence to make the tax much lower@cheaper.... tongue.gif

before Hong Leong Yamaha introduce XJ6 in malaysia market...
earlier there already some XJ6 (CBU) unit sold by NAZA and other importer....
but the downside is RESALE value....
as they are completely the same bike....do you think CBU unit will be sold much higher than CKD unit for 2nd hand value??? brows.gif

as currently what i heard that honda and kawasaki had slowly begun to build more higher capasity of bike in their thailand factory to cater for asian market.....rumors said that honda will build 400cc bike in their thailand factory....
which model is still unknown.... sweat.gif

as for know i think if you looking for superbike above 500cc...
and wanted for BEST RESALE VALUE...you deffinately can't go wrong with either this 2 model....
CBR600 or YZF R6....
this two model is the most in demand for malaysia market....
but kawasaki ZX-6R also not bad lar.....as one forummer said...it's much EASIER to get their parts as they were sold directly by kawasaki malaysia and their bike also not bad in resale value.... thumbup.gif

-so if CBU bikes means built in thailand...
-how to get CBU made in japan bikes? - the spare parts would be same as asian made bikes i assume.
-you say CBU-CKD almost same --> i agree for made in malaysia vs made in thailand, but made in japan - i believe that makes a difference.-i just read in another thread about Ducati's spare part prices... rclxub.gif
-for now gixxer 600 still my next target...unless someone can convince me otherwise...

CBU bike is just means that the bike is fully import in physical unit..
no matter which country it import from....
and YES...CKD and CBU are a same bike...all parts are the same
except some restriction like speed and exhaust emission depends on each country law
as to my knowledge for honda bike...
only these two model are currently assemble and build in japan which is CBR600 and CBR1000...
others model are assemble according to each region dan market...

p/s:
GSXR600 indeed are very sexy bike... thumbup.gif

The ducati looks cool - but i'm more into sports bikes.
before jumping into gsxr 600, i might do a stopover with the 250s.....ninja vs cbr250...hond is good except the ugggly look-if honda could just stop producing the annoying rabbit looking bikes vmad.gif ...did chris bangle join them after bmw?
anyway my ninja 150 keeps stopping while idling if choke not max...if choke max the spark plug apparently gets spoiled -anyway just changed sparkplug.

anyway new honda cbr250r doesn't have a "rabbit" look.. tongue.gif
the head light design is more towards current vfr design which is Y-shape...

have to bring your bike to another workshop...
try to check for carburetor setting..
because from your story..
it seem just like the problem is from ratio mixture of fuel & air (maybe it's mixture too lean or too rich)
