4 is good while 8 is a bonus.

+ TUDM love the figure 8

1 E2D is enough to cover the whole peninsular including SG, some part of Indon and Thailand

a pal of mine in C41SR says sometime they can detect the scanning beam of SG AEW until North or Malaysia.

That shows how powerful an AEW is!

not to forget if we have E2D we also need another squadron as a escort, with current fighters i think it aint enough. another question does TUDM have BVR missiles in reserved for MKM?

Boeing reveals advanced Super Hornet options

user posted image

Boeing has unveiled a series of advanced options for international customers of the F-18 E/F Super Hornet, including conformal fuel tanks, a pod for the internal carriage of weapons, an internally-mounted infrared search and track (IRST) sensor, and enhanced engine performance.

The new options could be available for Super Hornets delivered from 2015 onwards, though the options can be retrofitted to Block II versions of the aircraft, says Boeing. The options are currently in the "concept definition phase."

Boeing says that one of these options, 15-20% improved performance for the aircraft's two General Electric F414 engines, was offered to India in the medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) competition.

The conformal fuel tanks will be able to carry up to 3,000lbs of additional fuel, while reducing the aircraft's drag and improving its lift, says Boeing.

The IRST sensor will be slung under the nose to the gun bay door. While US fighters typically don't have an internal IRST capability - instead relying on AESA - IRST is stipulated in India's MMRCA request for proposals.

The Super Hornet is one of six MMRCA contenders. The other aircraft are the Saab JAS 39 Gripen, Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 60 Super Viper, RSK MiG-35, Dassault Rafale, and Eurofighter Typhoon. India is likely to announce a shortlist later this year.

QUOTE(WanMB @ Dec 19 2011, 11:29 PM)
May I know what's the difference between Su-30MKI and Su-30MKM? Which one is better?
*
Though both the fighters are Russian origin they have significant third party inputs......let put what i know......

To customer to the selection were proposed both base versions Su-30MK - "Indian", gathered in Irkutsk, and "Chinese", made in Komsomol'sk-on- Amur. But Malaysian armed forces the special version of aircraft on the basis of Indian version. So to the light appeared new version Su-30 with the index "modernized, commercial, Malaysian" ie MKM.

MKM:

TVC engine & digital system of the flight control unchanged
It uses a complete French avionics suite with some Russian inputs
Its HUD & HMS is Russian
The cockpit display systems are French
Display generator and radar processors are Indian
It have French navigation systems
Its radar is Bars PESA powered by Indian computers and software
Its uses a Russian jammer pod, IRST & RWR
French LDP
No HDAF pod

MKI:

Same TVC and digital FCS
It uses complete Israeli and Indian avionics suite
Its HUD is Israeli, HMS is Russian
The cockpit display systems are French
Datalink system Indian
All the computers and software onboard are Indian
Bars PESA powered by Indian RC
It uses Israeli jammer pod, IRST & Indian RWR
It has Indian HADF
Its uses French Navigation systems
It has South African aircraft health monitoring system same as EF Typhoon

India had the option to choose between Israeli, French and Russian systems but Malaysia only can choose from French & Russian systems only. They lack of better Israeli technologies in some areas like AVIONICS, jammer pod, IRST, HUD etc. But French also good but not as Israelis they are the best after USA in this aricraft avionics areas.

Thats why when India signed for Mirage-2000 upgrade deal with Frence, for the first time French will integrate a foreign electronics say Isareli+Indian avionics and jammer pods in the new Mirage with French radar, displays, HMS, navigation systems.

I think in Some areas these four countries dominate....

1. Russia: Overall fighter design, engine, weapons
2. Israel: Avionics, HUD, IRST, Jammer pod, LDP etc
3. French: HMS, Navigation systems, Display systems (MFD).
4. India: Computers for radar, avionics, display systems, RWR and software.

Both the fighters have above mentioned similerities.

The Avenger will support the same weapons as the MQ-9, and carry the Lynx Synthetic aperture radar SAR and a version of the F-35 Lightning II's electro-optical targeting system (EOTS), called the Advanced Low-observable Embedded Reconnaissance Targeting (ALERT) system.[5][6] The Avenger will use the same ground support infrastructure as the MQ-1 and MQ-9, including the ground control station and existing communications networks. so Predator C avenger is the next generation of UCAV?

what's the different between leased-to-buy aircraft & fully-owned aircraft?
*
Lease means we just pay certain premium (monthly/annually) with all maintenance cost covered by provider

fully owned we buy the aircraft but we maintain ourself without all cost covered. (ada duit repair, xde duit simpan) thumbup.gif

In Malaysia at present some problems to be solved, especially the aircraft price.

Russia to Field Air-Launched Missiles for T-50 by 2014

user posted image

Russia will complete development of advanced tactical air-launched missile systems for the Sukhoi T-50 fifth-generation fighter within the next two years, the head of the Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV), Boris Obnosov, told RIA Novosti.

“The development of Kh-35UE (AS-20 Kayak), Kh-38ME, Kh-58UShKE (AS-11 Kilter), and RVV-MD (AA-11 Archer) class missiles will be completed in 2012-2013,” Obnosov said, adding the missiles were currently being tested.

By the time the T-50 fighter enters service with the Russian Air Force in 2014, its missile systems will be fully operational, Obnosov said.

Some of the missiles intended for the fighters – such as Kh-31PD (AS-17 Mod 2) class missiles – have already been tested using Sukhoi Su-34 (Fullback) fourth-generation strike aircraft and put into serial production, he added.

According to KTRV, the Kh-35UE tactical anti-ship missile has a maximum range of 260 kilometers; the supersonic Kh-31PD anti-radiation missile for use against air defense systems, can fly up to 250 kilometers; the Kh-58UShKE missile, designed to destroy pulse radars, can hit targets within 245 kilometers, and the short-range RVV-MD air-to-air missile has a maximum range of 40 kilometers.

The T-50, developed under the PAK FA (Future Aviation System for Tactical Air Force) program by the Sukhoi OKB, is Russia's first new major warplane designed since the fall of the Soviet Union. The jet made its maiden flight in January 2011 and two prototypes have since been undergoing flight tests
