New indigenous Saeqeh fighter jets to join Iran Air Force

A senior commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) says a new generation of indigenous Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jets will join the Iranian Air Force fleet before the end of the year (March 20, 2013.)

“ The new generation of indigenous Saeqeh fighter jets is being produced and will soon join the Air Force fleet under a new name, ” IRIAF Deputy Commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh noted on Monday.

The commander added that the new fighter jets are more advanced than the current ones and have been optimized by the Iranian specialists.

He noted that the new aircraft can be equipped with enhanced ammunitions, smart bombs and modern electronic systems.

Nasirzadeh further stated that Iran’s Army Air Force is ready to counter any possible threat against the country.

In the recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

On Monday, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) unveiled a new indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with 24-hour nonstop flight capability.

The new drone, called Shahed 129, can carry out combat and reconnaissance missions with its 24-hour nonstop flight capability.

Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.

Hezbollah Says It Sent Drone Over Israel

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published : October 11, 2012 at 3:40 PM ET

BEIRUT (AP) — The leader of Hezbollah claimed responsibility Thursday for launching an Iranian-made drone aircraft into Israeli airspace earlier this week, adding more tension to an already explosive Mideast atmosphere.

Sheik Hassan Nasrallah warned that it would not be the last such operation by his Lebanese militant group.

Israeli warplanes shot down the unmanned plane, but the infiltration marked a rare breach of Israel's tightly guarded airspace. Hezbollah had been the leading suspect because of its arsenal of sophisticated Iranian weapons and a history of trying to deploy similar aircraft.

With a formidable arsenal that rivals that of the Lebanese army, Hezbollah is already under pressure in Lebanon from rivals who accuse it of putting Lebanon at risk of getting sucked into regional turmoil. Confirmation that Hezbollah was behind the drone could put the group under further strain internally as it pursues its longstanding conflict with Israel.

Hezbollah, a powerful Shiite group committed to Israel's destruction, has long served as an Iranian proxy along Israel's northern border. It is also seen as a close ally of the embattled regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Israel accuses the Assad government of allowing Iran to ferry weapons to Hezbollah through its territory.

Israel and Hezbollah fought a brutal monthlong war in mid-2006. Hundreds of people were killed, and Hezbollah fired several thousand rockets and missiles into Israel before the conflict ended in a stalemate.

Israel routinely sends F-16 fighter planes over Lebanon, in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution that ended the 2006 war. The Israeli planes have often broken the sound barrier over Beirut and other places as a show of strength, most recently after the drone incident.

" This statement today is a claim of responsibility by the Islamic resistance for this qualitative operation" of dispatching the drone, Nasrallah said in a televised address late Thursday.

" Today we are uncovering a small part of our capabilities, and we shall keep many more hidden," he said. "It is our natural right to send other reconnaissance flights inside occupied Palestine ... This is not the first time and will not be the last. We can reach any place we want " in Israel, he said.

He said the aircraft was launched from Lebanese territory and flew " tens of kilometers " over sensitive Israeli installations before it was discovered and shot down by the Israeli air force near the Dimona nuclear reactor in Israel's southern desert.

He dismissed an Israeli military statement that it began tracking the aircraft over the Mediterranean but waited until it was over an empty desert area to bring it down in order to avert casualties on the ground.

Nasrallah claimed the group had more surprises and would not hesitate to use them in any future war with Israel.

Launching the drone was a rare and provocative move by the Lebanese militants at a time of soaring regional tensions, with both Syria and Iran under intense international pressure.

Nasrallah said the aircraft was made in Iran and assembled by Hezbollah, adding that it was much more sophisticated than drones it sent before.

Hezbollah has attempted to send unmanned aircraft over Israel on several occasions, dating back to 2004. Nasrallah has claimed that the group's drones were capable of carrying explosives and striking deep into Israel.

Israel has said the latest drone was not carrying explosives and appeared to be on a reconnaissance mission.

The last known attempt by Hezbollah to use a drone took place during the 2006 war, when Israel shot down an Iranian-made pilotless aircraft that entered its airspace.

Touring southern Israel on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised efforts to prevent land infiltrations from Egypt. He mentioned that Israel has been equally successful "in the air, just like we thwarted the Hezbollah attempt last weekend," his first public statement blaming Hezbollah.

Hezbollah was formed to oppose Israel's occupation of south Lebanon in the 1980s, and the two sides have a bitter history.

Hezbollah has accused Israel of assassinating a top Hezbollah operative in 2008 in Syria. The group and Lebanese officials say they have broken up several Israeli spy rings inside Lebanon over the past few years.

Israel charges that Hezbollah, with Iranian backing, was behind a string of attempted attacks on Israeli diplomatic targets in India, Thailand and the former Soviet republic of Georgia, plus a deadly bombing this year that killed five Israeli tourists in a Bulgarian resort.

Last week, Israel announced the arrest of an Arab citizen it accused of spying for Hezbollah, the latest in a string of such cases.

Nasrallah also denied reports that Hezbollah members were fighting alongside Assad's forces against rebels in Syria.

The reports gained new urgency in the past weeks after Hezbollah buried several of its members, saying they died while performing their " jihadi duty. " Lebanese officials said they died in Syria.

He said those killed were among 30,000 Lebanese who live in Syrian territory along the border with Lebanon and were defending themselves against repeated attacks by gunmen in Syria.

" Until this moment we did not enter the fight alongside the (Syrian) regime, " Nasrallah said, but did not preclude the possibility that the group might do so in the future.

British plane enthusiast wins right to dig up buried Spitfires in Burma

Burma's government has signed an agreement with Lincolnshire farmer and aviation enthusiast David Cundall to allow the excavation of dozens of rare Spitfire fighters which were buried in the country at the end of the Second World War.

By David Eimer in Bangkok

3:05PM BST 17 Oct 2012

The historic find could total 60 of Britain's most iconic fighter plane, the largest number of Spitfires left anywhere in the world.

The deal comes after the personal intervention of David Cameron, who discussed bringing the planes home to the UK when he met Burma's President Thein Sein in April.

Revered as the plane that won the Battle of Britain in 1940, there are only 35 Spitfires still flying around the world.

With a price tag of £1.5 million or more each, Mr Cundall struck the aviation equivalent of a gold mine when he located the planes in February this year, almost 70 years after they were carefully greased and wrapped to preserve them, before being buried in crates.

" We estimate that there are at least 60 Spitfires buried and they are in good condition, " said Mr Htoo Htoo Zaw, Mr Cundall's Burmese business partner.

" This will be the largest number of Spitfires in the world. We want to let people see these historic fighters, and the excavation of these planes will further strengthen relations between Burma and Britain."

Work on digging up the planes will start at the end of October.

The find is even more valuable because the Spitfires are rare Mark XIV fighters, equipped not with the famous Rolls-Royce Merlin engine but with the more powerful Griffon type.

Although more than 20,000 Spitfires were built in Britain during the Second World War, only 2,042 later models were powered with Griffon engines and just a handful are still flying today.

Mr Cundall, 62, spent 16 years and over £130,000 of his own money scouring former RAF airfields in Burma for the planes, after receiving a tip-off that they were buried at the end of a runway in August 1945. It is thought that the aircraft were abandoned in Burma before they ever took to the air because they were no longer needed with so many Spitfires then flying and the war ending.

According to the Burmese press, Mr Cundall and Mr Zaw signed the deal to excavate the planes on Tuesday in Rangoon with Burma's director-general of Civil Aviation Tin Naing Tun.

Burma's transport minister Nyan Tun Aung was cited as hailing the agreement as a milestone in Anglo-Burmese relations, and as recognition by the British government of Burma's recent pro-democracy reforms.

Mr Cameron made retrieving the planes a priority when he travelled to Rangoon in April to meet Mr Sein and Aung San Suu Kyi. But the deal was delayed after a tussle between Mr Cundall and British businessman Steve Boultbee Brooks over who had the right to extract the planes. Most of the Spitfires are expected to be returned to the UK, with some remaining in Burma on display.

Malaysia & Indonesia JV ...

Irisan Irisan Hati (1988)

Hadi menyusulnya. Namun sayang, tanggapan ayah wati (Piet Burnama) terhadap Hadi kurang baik. Apalagi setelah tahu siapa Hadi sebenarnya, seorang sukarelawan Garis Depan yang dikabarkan akan membunuhi orang-orang Malaysia. Keduanya bersitegang.

Tabib tersebut akhirnya memberitahukan pada Pakcik Salman siapa Muhammad Noor sebenarnya, apalagi ketika polisi mencari-cari keberadaan orang Indonesia, maka Pakcik Salman ikut merasa was was.

Iran has officially unveiled a domestically designed and manufactured hovercraft named Tondar (lightening), becoming the fifth country in the world to possess the know-how.

The hovercraft, manufactured in two combat and logistic models, was unveiled in a Monday ceremony attended by Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi in the Iranian southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

" The Islamic Republic of Iran is among the five countries possessing this technology and it is able to meet [the country's] domestic and exports-related needs through its various designs, " Vahidi pointed out.

The defense minister noted that different types of Iranian military products, including missiles, artillery, and unmanned aerial vehicles can be installed and
used on the hovercraft.

" Mass production of this hovercraft will considerably boost the operational capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. "

The Iranian minister mentioned coastal patrols, conducting offensive and defensive reconnaissance operations, taking part in asymmetrical defense operations, carrying personnel and equipment to support Iranian islands and coastal areas, operating as sea ambulance, and taking part in relief operations as the main functions of the hovercraft.

Apart from meeting military needs, the hovercraft can also carry passengers and cargo in the areas without docks, help Iran Red Crescent Society with relief operations in flood-hit areas, control fishing vessels, transport staff and equipment of offshore companies and help with both onshore and offshore environmental studies.

Iran started a self-sufficiency campaign in the defense industry and launched numerous military projects soon after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The Islamic Republic has repeatedly made clear that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
