I prefer Malaysia get Challenger2. or t-90
*
Challenger pretty impossible to get, t-90 still possible.

QUOTE
Actually, how old is the Leo 2 acquired by SG and Indons?

Maybe 10-20 years old given Cold War over since late 80s.
But should be in pretty good condition - solid German engineering and never really saw action.
And Germany sold cheap at ~ US1M/piece according to some reports.

But those add-on armor already made it heavier. Maybe its purpose as mobile fort for urban warfare..
*
Heard weight gone up from 55 tons to ~ 65 tons, about the same as Israel's Merkava.

Yep, they buy cheap, but they have to bear the cost for refurbish, installing new system and etc.
Luckily they can save a lot of money by doing it in house.
*
The armor of the cold war era 2A4 Leo's can't handle IED/RPG, so there is a cost of up-armor.
But they got the people (ST Kinetics) and the money to do it.

raptor? the US 1 ar?
*
yup, pilot oxygen supply issue.

Seems like the Americans are really dropping the ball on their recent military development:
1. still haven't found an M16 replacement
2. f35 is too expensive, too short range, too small payload, weak radar

#6: What all aunties should carry, in light of recent bus pushing incident.

A lot of the young ladies couldn't even carry it (~9 kg) but all the older aunties had no problems after years of hauling children/stuff from market.

Played around with the MMS (no, that's not me in the pic), prefer it over the stock SAR. Much smaller and the charging handle is less finicky.

i heard SG tankers trained in israel. true?

Don't know. They keep any military cooperation w/ Israel hush-hush.
(Google about the "Mexican" story)

QUOTE(DeFaeco @ Jun 11 2012, 10:00 AM)
Ah, I see.

Is it semi auto only or does it have a progressive trigger like the Styer Aug?
*
Selector based. I've only fired blanks in semi auto mode.
No progressive trigger.

I have a feeling the French will clinch the deal because of "political" reasons.

Not quite true. I recalled this happened before when we bought AMRAAM, they safekeep it in Guam or somewhere, both RSAF and ours. Something about not introducing advanced weapon into the region unless someone else introduce it first. They delivered it only after we bought Su-30MKM with Russian BVR missile. This were discussed before in the old gempurwira forum.
*
i believe that's what happened in Taiwan. they bought some canggih missile from US, but the missile is not in Taiwan. It can only be sent over should China attack Taiwan or something.

QUOTE
Taiwan takes delivery of 200 AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles

The weapons had been ordered in 2000 but were stocked in the US in order not to upset the arms balance between China and Taiwan.

On Tuesday September 21st, two RoCAF F-16 block 20 aircraft took off from Hualien AB for their first training flight with the missiles. Up til now, Taiwanese pilots could only train with the missiles in the US.

The deal had been approved by the US back in 2000, but Washington would not deliver the weapons unless Taiwan faced a serious threat. After Chinese Su-30 aircraft test-fired the Russian AA-12 missiles, the US agreed to deliver the missiles.

that is due to China and US political thing.
what about local here? hmm.gif
perhaps we should armed up more weapon on the MKM.

i knew you were going to ask that:
QUOTE
In view of neighboring Malaysia upgrading its MiG-29s allowing integration of the Vympel R-77 AR-homing AAM, Singapore acquired about 100 AIM-120 missiles. Previous requests for the AIM-120 by Singapore and other countries in the region were turned down by the US government until a similar system was introduced in the region. It is understood that the AIM-120 misseles are stocked in the US, and will only be shipped to Singapore when the state is threatened. The latest reports confirm these AMRAAM missiles being in-country.
