ye apricing is another factor when the US offer F18 for such a low price lol

SH have been around for very long time edi.
+EA 18G have give some huge profit margin for Boeing so they can push the SH EF down.
a Fully upgraded SH might cost about 55-60mil "with CFT, F-35 style cockpit, AESA radar, uprated engine".
cheap very cheap mang.

Best option for RMAF is the Boeing FA-18F and the Wedgetail AEW&C.
*
huhu, but wedgetail beyond RMAF budget.
Erieye or E2D is much more cheaper option.

tu lah ko ada keluar dlm mymil dlu , cerita lama nih..

offer tu pn dah kne counter with Typhoon + AEW + economic plan

then rafale comes with their offer.

yinchet would you do the honor and paste rafale offer here
hehehehe
quite a good deal, but only the plane and the AEW no economic plan,
and still restricted technologies to only what we only needed.

but the US would allow much more lenient in restriction then in the 90s with the Hornet 18D because of the situation on spratly waters.

but Gomen will always look for better offer not just for the air force but to the country and in the long term.
the bae offers is very tempting.
*
I'm also not very sure about the rafale deal.
but I did know they offer deal with unikl..
although some said it will come with the offer of AEW EADS. I dun think it possible since it were design by IAI.
not sure how many units though.

Malaysia has East and West Malaysia to defend and right now there is a big capability gap without the AEW platform.

RTAF has the SAAB Erieye and RSAF the E2C Hawkeye and the G550 CAEW.

There is a good read about the RAAF choosing the Wedgetail.
*
upon looking at the cost, it were not too expensive as expected.
but it still eat huge chunk of our military budget.
perhaps it will be a sensible option for us to go for wedgetail. perhaps with a starting of 2-4 units.

turkey brought it around USD1.6bil for 4 units.

QUOTE
In May 2002, the Turkish Government signed a $1.6bn contract with Boeing for four 737 AEW&C systems with options on a further two. The sale received US Government approval in September 2003. Boeing is modifying the first and Tusas Aerospace Industries (TAI) of Ankara the other three. The first aircraft for local modification arrived in March 2006.

or we can go for Australian configuration but it cost them $3.45bil for 6 units.

As for East Malaysia. we still dont have a decent AFB.
RM1-2bil needed to flock out to build 1 at Sabah. with M-MRCA possibly bring in another 18-24units fighter we can sent 12units of fighter over there without leaving huge gap at peninsular.

Singapore Issues RFI For Six Tankers

user posted image

Singapore has moved ahead with plans to order aerial refueling tankers to replace its Boeing KC-135Rs.

Industry sources say Singapore has issued a request for information (RFI) for six aerial refueling tankers. One of the sources says they anticipate a request for proposals (RFP) may be issued mid-year.

The Southeast Asian nation has four Boeing KC-135R aerial refueling tankers, the first of which the island nation received in late 1999. These aircraft are in fact A-model KC-135s that Boeing upgraded to R-model by re-engining the aircraft with new CFM International CFM-56 power-plants.
Industry sources say new aerial refueling tankers are a top priority for the Singapore Air Force, which has been complaining about the cost and difficulty involved in maintaining the KC-135R. This tanker is based on the Boeing 707 commercial platform.

One of the sources says the reason Singapore’s KC-135Rs may be difficult and costly to maintain is because Singapore’s KC-135Rs are a lower block standard than the U.S. Air Force’s.

At the Singapore Airshow (Feb. 14-19), Airbus Military had on display a U.K. Royal Air Force A330MRTT. Israel Aircraft Industries was also at the show promoting its 767 Multi-Mission Tanker Transport and Boeing was promoting its KC-46 aerial refueling tanker.

Boeing would ordinarily be the front-runner in the competition, because of Singapore’s close ties with the U.S., but the KC-46 is still in development. Boeing is already committed to deliver 18 KC-46As to the U.S. Air Force by 2017, leaving no early delivery slots for foreign customers. The earliest Boeing can delivery KC-46s to international customers is 2018. That may be too late for the Singaporeans.

The RSN and RMN interact regularly across a wide range of activities. These include professional exchanges and courses, as well as multilateral activities as part of the Five Power Defence Arrangements. The two navies have also been working closely to enhance maritime security through the Malacca Strait Patrols arrangement. These regular interactions serve to strengthen mutual understanding and professional ties among the personnel of both navies.

Su-30MK2 for Vietnam Crashed During the Acceptance Trials

Yesterday, in the Khabarovsk region during a training flight accident Su-30MK2, destined to supply the Air Force of Vietnam. Both pilots managed to eject. According to preliminary data of the investigation, the incident took place 140 km from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, at 17:20 local time (around 10:20 GMT), when the Su-30MK2 running test pilots 485 th Military Mission of the Ministry of Defense Lt. The investigators found that the fighter, who was the property of Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Industrial Association (KNAAPO), performed two tasks: the flight route and accelerate to the maximum indicated airspeed at an altitude of three thousand miles in normal weather conditions.

As noted in the TFR, under the regime of acceleration to the maximum indicated airspeed the captain Kirilin reported in the flight control of a fire engine on the right, then head of the flight crew immediately gave the command of the bailout.

The KnAAPO said one of the pilots suffered during ejection. Injuries or damage from falling aircraft on the ground there. F-22 redesign considered as oxygen system concerns linger

US Air Force leaders are considering a redesign of the Lockheed Martin F-22 but still have no answers for the oxygen system breakdowns responsible for another operational disruption.

F-22s based in Alaska were grounded for one day in mid-February after three separate pilots reported hypoxia symptoms, the Air Combat Command confirmed to Flightglobal.

It was at least the third temporary stand-down for the F-22 since the USAF deactivated the entire fleet for four months until last September.

But air force officials are no closer to identifying the cause of the string of incidents, including one fatal crash in November 2010 that was preceded by a failure of the pilot's oxygen supply.

USAF officials hoped an expert panel led by retired Gen Gregory Martin might yield the answer. The team has now reported its findings, but found no "smoking gun", said Lt Gen Herbert Carlisle, deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and requirements.

The USAF is considering a broad range of options, including redesigning the F-22 to include a back-up oxygen supply, Carlisle said. This would automatically detect an oxygen system malfunction and activate, he added.

The F-22 already is equipped with an emergency oxygen system, but it must be manually activated by the pilot after the onboard oxygen generation system (OBOGS) stops working.

Capt Jeff Haney was killed on 16 November 2010 when his F-22 crashed in Alaska. Haney inadvertently steered the aircraft into the ground while trying to reach a handle to activate his emergency oxygen system.

The OBOGS had already stopped functioning during the incident. An unexplained oxygen leak in the engine compartment prompted an automatic fire protection system to shut down the supply of bleed air to the OBOGS.

While Haney's supply of breathing air was cut off, other F-22 pilots have reported symptoms suggesting their air supply was not filtered properly.

I honestly prefer Malaysia get 1000 RPG 29 or something more rather than 1000 tanks.

Soviets used to sell monkey models and US sell downgraded Abrams to their allies. God knows what is being downgraded in the tanks meant for exports.
I LoLed at this.

depend.
I would prefer Malaysia buy a more advance and deadly RPG30. still on pending for export.
To me we need both anti-tank and MBT. both have own advantage and disadvantages.
of'coz US, UK and Russian would sell a downgraded MBT. no DU armor for example. for Russian as long as you have the money and have no history of stealing reverse engineer their tech you can get their best weaponry systems. anyway key words Money. laugh.gif
