it's a bit injustice to say that the failure of man city and man utd to go through the last 16 means EPL is a poor league compared to the other leagues.look at man city's group.every manager would be shaking to be in that group.it can be traced back to the grouping seeding.the fact that they're relatively new in european competition means they need to be seeded in third seeds.thus, increase the chance of being up against two strong teams.unfortunately the other two teams were villareal and bayern munich.in addition to that, the fourth seed in the group was napoli,a club which has similar stature of man city, new to europe, but strong in their league.we should not say that man city's failure due to the inexperience.it's their european status that fails them.
now,on to man utd.from my own view,it's just tough luck they had.injuries, key players underperform, backup players failed to rise to the occasion.it's all there.it reminds me the season that liverpool failed to qualify to the round of sixteen few seasons ago.similar situation.
it's nothing to with the league standard.
EPL can't compete, Best team in EPL can't compete in Champi
