Rane Serato and Stanton's Final Scratch are not the only solution for digital DJing. By the way, they cost too much!
DJDecks.be is the cheapest solution. A very stable software with good support! With that, you have the option of playing real vinyl unlike CD turntables.
2nd-hand/used Technics SL-1200 & Vestax PDX2000 turntables are cheap (<RM1500) and last longer than newer Numark or Stantons. Same concept when buying a used European car compared to a new local model.
Below is my setup for MP3/Digital DJing: 1 x Audiotrak Maya 44 PCI soundcard 1 x AMD 1.2 Duron computer 2 x Vestax PDX2000 turntables 1 x Vestax PMC07 mixer
PM me if you're looking for 2nd-hand turntables & mixers. Will try and work something out within your budget.
Hey juz like 2 ask if any1 sellin of their final scratch i wana get it. N wher do i get new slipmats n a couple of good scratch records.
For a budget setup similar to Rane's Serato I use:
DJDecks software - RM150 2 x Serato timecode vinyl - RM100 1 x Audiotrak Maya 44mk2 soundcard - RM500 2 x turntables 1 x mixer
The performance of the software depends on your machine. Best part is you get to play vinyl & mp3 without extra cost. The soundcard is also good enough for recording mixes.

i see....wow, seems that you get your gears in one go. i wonder what business are you in...forex trading?
if you know how to get timecoded cds do tell me. or can we burned them ourself in conventional way?
Timecoded CDs can be copied from the original and played like normal.

yeah mixvibes is the one i wanna know about most.. cause i can use MAYA 44 usb rather than fs or serato with its own interface, cheaper this way.. can just buy the timecoded vinyl and dl the software off the net heh
How's the MAYA 44 USB with Mixvibes? What are your PC specs and are there any issues with latency, etc?
anyone can help me with some connection issues.. trying to connect my mixer to the amp with xlr the only info i got about the mixer is this: Balanced XLR master output
here's a picture of the backpanel, as u can see there's 2 xlr.. any idea how do i use these and where do i connect it to? what kind of connection do i need? xlr to rca, xlr to 1/8" etc and whats the deal with pin2 hot,pin3 hot cheers

hold on to ur records well, it might get 'misplaced' suddenly there hehe
What about using the RCA Master outputs on the mixer to connect your amp?
actually my intention in the virtual dj setup is to be able to use the tracks wave & software, like any othe dvs system & can control externally using external mixer.
i can use headphones just like normal mixing without software connected, all cdj & live mixing functions works 100% with additional waveforms to look at.
why i'm plugging 3 mini jacks to RCA & TRS master out at the same time because the speaker system is 5.1
since the config for virtual dj is almost correct & i'm trying to use the soundcard for live recording....
RCA master outs L&R should go to your speaker set. Regardless 5.1 or not, music is only stereo which is Left & Right
For recording, use the Left & Right TRS Master outputs to connect to another Left &Right input of a soundcard. Now that your Maya is used for Virtual DJ, it's time for another soundcard. I'm currently using this http://www.roland.com/products/en/UA-25/ for recording.
You might need another computer for recording depending on your current pc's spec

VESTAX PDX 2000 REPLACEMENT FOOT VESTAX PCV RANGE REPLACEMENT CROSSFADER for PMC-07
Any information used or new would be great as I'm having trouble trying to purchase this from Acoustic & Lighting System Sdn Bhd. Seems like they're no longer Vestax distributors.
hey guys.. i just got an offer frm my friend whom wants to sell me his sl1210 with shure m44-7 carts for abt 1k...
well i dont know if i shld buy la cause I tot i wanna save up for the roland sp555 or a new multi channel mixer. Help i duno what i shld do...
1k is a decent price for sl1210. On which to buy (sampler, multichannel mixer, turntable), it depends on which route you're taking. Are you interested in DJing or producing?
Choong, about the session in on any scratch mixer, boleh letak benda lain ke selain another battle mixer in series? mana lah tau can put effector kit or guitar effects ke....
Hope you don't mind me answering.
To connect an effector to an 07, it has to go direct ie; mixer master out -> efx -> amp
Session-In: can be used to plug in other instruments like mics (if you ran out of mic inputs),guitars but won't work for effectors
my custom DJ table is here ... plz stay tune for picture... Wooo
*picture uploaded*
sorry for the blur picture...i still need to raise the speakers to my head level and also because it's too close to the tonearm and it's interfering with my mixvibes
