never heard of them .. sorry

hmm, I want to get some hands-on lesson with Djing ; I'm an animator and I really want to include Djing and making my own tunes for my portfolio in the future so let's say I want to learn but I don't want to spend 3k+/- on gears yet since I'm still totally new to this, where would you guys recommend... preferably somewhere near Sunway.

I tried a few sources already, but they are either quite far or just not free..

much appreciation notworthy.gif

you probably don't need turntables and mixer etc because you are looking to making own tracks etc
so i would recomended that you start off with music production software etc.
if you want to make music/beat etc .. go for audio editing software like Fruityloop,CoolEdit ..then you can arrange your sounds beats .. to make music
*
yea, Im currently learning how to use Cubase. Mind telling me what you do with your whole gear ? Aside from performing, isn't it sound manipulation you guys are messing with?

thx notworthy.gif

as for me
i'm just making noise .. lol i don't make music
yes .. sound manipulation  .... scratching etc ...
but depends what you want to produce..if you want to produce music .. means you have to arrange your sound/beat according to bar
*
I love sound manipulation a lot too, so do you think I should get a decent gear to start with? or attend lessons?

I want to make this a side hobby as well, mixing music notworthy.gif

Last i check at singapore, a set of Stanton starter pack + 1 active monitor speaker was going for like RM5k .....
*
this is why I would wanna get some hands-on 1st, spending 5k as a beginner 1-shot doesn't make sense to me.

thx for the info aights! Appreciate it! notworthy.gif

how i was started was with one lousy mixer and two laptop .. running illegal software ... mixing ..
i first started to do beat matching ... as in same beat but not same bar ..
then i went on to learn to count bars with the beats..
so eventually i moved on to one lousy turntables and one lousy mixer ..
.... cut story short.. i finally got my proper setup after 2 years ++ smile.gif

my gears as in my signature

cool, mind sharing some of your tunes? Interested in the genre you mix out. drool.gif

heyo guys, eversince I've asked for advice from here I've already started my DJ courses with a fellow DJ ; and I'm being trained using CDJs 1st, is this alrite?

I was thinking I should know the basics of the old school way of spinning before the CDs... What you guys think?

And let's say I went to Singapore, where is the best place to get gear?

thx

heyo guys, I'm going to ask another question that is quite a noobish Q...

but it has struck me that CDJs are a more savvy deal in the long run, CDs are everywhere... but I'm very interested in turntablism. So should I get just 1 turntable, and 1 mixer ; just to train on scratching.

I heard from my DJ friend records are $$$$pricey and hard to get locally, not impossible... so what you guys think?

thanks in advance wink.gif

hey, hey, quick Q.

I'm seriously considering getting just 1 TT and mixer for scratching practise only, since I'm still practicing on CDJs at the moment ; where can I find a decent priced 2nd hand Technics or any that you guys would recommend for scratching abuse?

I'm open to all suggestions, bear in mind I'm a student with limited funds as well. So can't go tooo far overboard with cool stuffs yet. But looking for a good long term TT for learning the fundamentals of scratching.

thx yeh

i'm not that good .. and furthermore i'm still waiting to get camera charger so that i can record some vidz ..
come join us in our next dj session and hopefully can do some thing there ...
i'm still very reluctant to bring my turntable to xtothed's cafe as my turntables are crazy heavy ...do you have the technics? cuz that is much much lighter than mine .... if can you bring your turntable... i bring my mixer .... then we can do some scratches there ...
*
dang dude, your statons are quite high-end too ; I live 10 floors up man, kinda lazy too hahaha lemme at least have like a 3-5 mins mini session 1st ; if not go there nothing to share doh.gif I bet you're still better than I am dude, I just started scratching on 22nd after I got my tables ; still getting the hand of setting up the tonearm for scratching

wow, the sales thread offer is dirt cheap... might sapu hahaha

oh .. even though i don't relaly like your CDJ400 ... i'll adopt it .. you don't have to destroy it ..

I 2nd that, rclxms.gif I want a CDJ too really, but I have to own a TT and slowly earn my way to CDJhood

haha you got me wrong Choong, what I meant is your model is quite high-end ; read some reviews on it, solid ones. I know its troublesome to carry from place 2 place too man, never thought Technics weight that much when I went to Notti's place to get them sweat.gif

Just attended the DMC thingie... saw DJ Reeves again ; you guys have to give him credit for attending and trying out in front of a crowd man. Not easy.

Plenty if not more than half messed up in front of the crowd... Only 1 will win, and I'm sure I know which one. The standard gap is so obvious tonight... He owned the 3 min session edy...

Lucky you guys didn't go... Think you guys sure - - cos at the end of the semi-finals got some local dj perform... not that kick also, then some African rap-band started singing "stop smokin' mah weed." - - saw many ppl left... I left to get air too biggrin.gif

anyways, it's so late now. Tido now. Cheers

ps : at least get to see female DJ (quite chun looking laaaa) battle. Dj Dirty Little Secret I think... IIRC la...

pps : will try upload photos for you guys to see, friend bz take vid and photo. biggrin.gif
