My setup, barely weeks old.
I bought the whole damn thing without even knowing how to use them. Now slowly getting the hand of it.
A bit of an overkill for a beginner according to most of my friends. I'm ordering a pair of Technics 1210 Mk5s soon.

Still deciding on the 1210s cause I'm after the vinyl experience but lack of supply in KL puts me off.
Should I just get one more CDJ1000mk3 and 1 Technics 1210mk5 |

Speed: No, that's just something I use to mess around with stuff. I use them separately, they only share the speakers but thats the old layout. Now there is no PC in that room - I use the net in my home office - once I do decide on that new Mac then I'll most probably put it there.
Porn - Serato is something I have been considering, but I don't know who would have stock in KL. Been rather busy these past few weeks, little time to think about gear. |

Nah not yet. I looked at Rane's website earlier and Sinamex wasn't listed as the distributor, instead some guys in PJ. I know Sinamex has Torq though..

I was about to get a the last Serato unit available at Mercoms but my other hobbies are way too expensive - got hit by huge huge bills for my cars recently so music would have to wait.
On a separate note, I did venture into old school LPs - bought a Pro-Ject turntable from Tong Lee and the sound is pretty wicked. Now listening to old school songs to unwind. |

Quick question for all you DJs out there - What mixer do you guys use?
Is there such a thing as a six channel mixer? Just curious. EDIT: Nevermind, found the DJM-1000 This post has been edited by [PIMPIN]: Nov 4 2007, 11:41 PM |

DJM-600? I wouldn't have a clue bro, currently using a DJM-800 with two CDJ1000Mk3s.
For those in the know, how reasonable are these prices - Pioneer CDJ1000Mk3 for RM4,300+ each, Pioneer EFX-1000 for RM2,900 and Technics SL1210Mk5 for RM7,400 for two including slipmats, stylus. |

IMHO, if you already have it then just use it cause no reason why you can't use different genres of music (especially at my very beginner level).
Granted its not feature packed like more higher end mixers but basically you're just essentially mixing the sound from one channel with another with your crossfaders and up/down channel faders and you have your 3 band EQs. I admit the layout is more for battle/scratch DJs but nothing you won't get used to after awhile. If you have it, use it. That's just what I think - I'm still extremely new to this so I'm giving you a truly truly layman's point of view. |

QUOTE(speedfamgirl @ Dec 2 2007, 12:21 PM) indeed it was stated in the manual as well. How much would the 400s be?never mind, i would like to scratch once in a while (i got it from this forum anyway, the mixer. coz it's cheap so i grab it earlier...without the turntable now waiting for the release of cdj-400. somewhat the function is between cdj-200, and has little bit of 1000mk3 and more or less the same as 800. and very affordable to....(actually if i tidak sayang duit i will angkut those cdj 1000mk3!) then practice 1st, get to know the basic, then upgrade to djm800...my plan laa Faster save money then can buy my DJM800 |

Christmas came early this year
![]() ![]() Added on December 10, 2007, 10:43 pmLatest as of today: Basically CDJs 2 and 3 share channels 2 and 3 with the turntables with the latter hooked up as phono while the CDJs via digital/line input so swapping between gives me flexibility if I ever need to (which I doubt!) ![]() This post has been edited by [PIMPIN]: Dec 10 2007, 10:43 PM |

It felt a lot more convenient having 2 different tracks cued as well as other loops/effects on hand plus three seemed like an unlucky number lol
the KRKs rock and for their size would put any speaker to shame. the alesis i haven't had a chance to really max out their full potential plus they are still new |

Nah, I don't really, still new at this.
I just liked the idea to be honest. You should get the KRKs, they are relatively inexpensive. |

Ah damn shame. Cause my friends all leave their gear here (not DJ but guitars, etc cause the room although small is soundproof) and once I move into my new place, half of the top floor will be soundproof for music. I guess I just enjoy music, as much as an amateur/layman is able to.
