I can only ever go around 5pm or so which coincidently is not only when DBKL likes to come around and issue summonses but traffic is a major deterrent as well. Somewhere in PJ/Damansara would be cool if anyone knows thanks.

I'm in the midst of setting up a studio: 3 studios for your normal jamming and one room for recording which will be set-up properly with help from my bro-in-law (was ED of Warner until recently and has been in the industry for 30years or so.

Anyways thats besides the point. What I want is YOUR opinion of whether I'm taking a step in the right direction by having a pair of CDJ400s and a 2 channel mixer in all jamming studios my reasons being:

1) A lot of people want to become a DJ but lets face it, it can be costly

2) CDJ400s are cheap

3) Linkin Park etc all have DJ with turntables as part of their band so I'm providing local bands/youth the chance to experiment and who knows we might unearth some hidden talent

Yay or nay?

Speed - we're aiming to be fully operational by Feb which is about a month later than expected but I bought another company so funds were diverted plus location was hard to pick.

Wes - aside from the normal electric guitars, bass, drums and amps we're also trying to ensure that all the jamming studios have a pair of CDJ400s, DJM400 mixer and HDJ1000 headphones.

i'm hoping that your business will expanding & eventually will open a branch here in Kuching. that would be awesome....dj/jamming school. nod.gif

I don't forsee any additional branches as this is just one of my passion turned business. I have several other ventures running atm which are of higher priority. This is just something for those who want to spin but lack the means to do so

Wes - That is what I'm doing. Jamming and DJing in one venue. I'll let you know when its up and running.

Leng - Not interested in Fairlady, just sold my 350Z. You may have seen it around, it was black, had Volk GT-V 19" rims, Do-Luck kit and plates WJM8. I wanna build up my GTR collection at the moment, so far only have a 34 V-Spec II but once I sell my V9 STI Spec C then I'll get the legendary R32 and hopefully one day the new R35.

I just realised I'll have 12 turntables soon from the current 6 I have. Hopefully, I can contribute towards expanding this part of the industry that has so far been overlooked in favour of the normal jamming facilities.

Peace.

Dude,

I'll be honest with you. I've always been into music, so has my family. An uncle was a singer and my bro-in-law was one of the top guys at Warner until recently, when he left to follow Tony at the airline. Until now, I've only been listening to music, going to raves icon_rolleyes.gif but work has kept me from learning/picking it up until now.

So now that my businesses are OK, I thought I'd do something that I've always wanted which was music so here I am. Which brings me to my next point. If you guys know of any DJs who are interested in holding classes but lack facilities, then I'm interested in getting to know them. I know most of the big name local DJs have their own places, but surely there is someone out there just starting to make a name for himself who could use the exposure of holding his own courses and the funds as well. *sorry that's the businessman in me talking*

leng - I turned 24 last September and before you ask, no I don't have rich parents neither do they know about my cars cause I don't want them to worry. You know how parents are when it comes to sports cars. I don't have a job as in a 9-5 thing, but I do own various businesses of which the studio would be the newest venture. Got my capital from playing the stock market.

redbustop - hahah yeah sure can lah teach me some new tricks

I do what I can, but I disagree on the scene being big enough.

The number of people I know who are serious about wanting to try their hand at being a DJ, regardless of type of genre or whether its scratching or mixing, is fairly large and many lack the means to do so. Its not as accessible as guitars, etc.

No such thing as too big imho. We have a long way to go, still lots to do so lets all get together and make something happen.

Well I don't have the finances really. I simply bring people with money and people with skills and ideas together and try to align their interests.

...oh yeah.
did you receive my PM yet Pimpin?

or i guess you are not interested to align my interest any more....thanks for your help, really appreciate them
btw good luck in your endeavour.

Hello Ann,

Sorry I've been slack at PM's lately. I've gotten the prices but because you wanted them by that Thursday, they couldn't come through as quickly as you would have wanted therefore I thought you would get back to me regarding this when you're back from offshore IIRC around Feb 4th. They can't deliver the next day as per usual cause I'm getting some other stuff at the same time so was easier and can get better pricing.

So I guess it was a miscommunication whereby you wanted them by that Thurs failing which you'd want them in early Feb which is when I was planning to receive them by.

Ok, right now its possible to get two CDJ400s, one DJM400 two channel mixer and one HDJ1000 headphones - ALL BRAND NEW for about RM6k all in.

I have the price individually someplace but for each set thats about the price. I'm gonna get 3 sets for people to use at my studio and the price is RM18k for 3 separate sets.

Which IMHO is reasonable considering what my set-up cost. Even a pair of CDJ1000s and a DJM800 will cost nearly as much once you factor in some monitors and decent headphones.

I might put my spare pair of my CDJ1000s and EFX1000 as well for some people to use (ie: those I'll come to know soon enough)

Dude,

I run female XLR to male XLR which is basically the master output of my DJM800 to my amp. Alternatively, I could also run to XLR to 1/8" using the same mixer and amp.

Most shops have either of the above, I got mine from Tong Lee for 900 a pair but DoReMi have them for as little as 30 bucks or so IIRC (this is for XLR female to male btw). DoReMi can also make for you (actually any shop in Jalan Pasar could but DoReMi is around the corner from me).

If you need help I could swing by your place or you mine to check each others set-up and wiring etc since this week is pretty slow cause of CNY so yeah quite free.

thanx for the offer but im out of town atm. The thing thats been throwing me off is that there's 2 xlr output (as u've read from the other thread i guess).. just tell me that I need only one xlr to 1/8" cable from ONE output, and i can get a stereo signal.. right?
*
it'll be mono i believe. in fact i just tried it and on my setup it'll run only the left/right channel which you plugged in

faulty master rca out.. that's why.. f*cking kastam screw my mixer on the way into the country, they opened it up and did a bad job putting it back together... so beware if buying a second hand equipment from overseas, u've been warned! hah!

yeah thats what i thought initially, thats why i wanna find those xlr to rca cables..
but this guy from the other thread is making me pening about the signal that the mixer outputs..
cause im assuming its one L and one R cause there's 2 xlr 'holes'...
thanx for clearing that up
Have you tried DJforums.com or something along those lines? I remember reading somewhere about it not being good to mix balanced with unbalanced, though I could be mistaken.

Surely the RCA can be replaced? My KRKs had one of its RCA inputs fkd and it could be replaced no worries.
