manage to get a new 146 opteron for a frend today.. the stock is limited so the shop jack up the price very high~!

maybe dfi ultra infinity still has no official bios support? u can use but there might be some prob, either minor or major..

just got mine AMD opteron 165 with this stepping :

The power of opteron? My aquamark score increase, i got more than what i got with my 7800gtx SLI + amd64 x2 3800 setup
Ran aquamark 3 times and i can conclude that the score is persist hehe.. (all without restarting windows or any windows tweak)

hmm now dunno they got stock or not.. if yes maybe i can help u.. i already managed to buy 3 opty ( 2x 146 n 1x 165) and all of them are proc alone

maybe he meant he offered rm100 more than normal price for the proc

what is ur other spec?

nforce 3 use s754 rite? opty 165 use s939

i'm currently at 2.5ghz. i've tried 2.7ghz at stock vcore, but not stable at all. Only manage to get into windows but then hang straight away

i also forget bout the patch. I'm using the x2 patch rite now since i didnt format my windows after swapping proc (from x2 to opty). Well i might remove the patch and install the amd64 driver provided.

he doesnt want to use divider. i asked him so alredi

i nvr like aquamark coz i felt it's very hard to improve scores even oc my gfx a lot.. but using opteron this aquamark score just keep increasing

3x is ok. It wont effect performance. The most important thing is it adds stability

last time my opty 165 also cool.. full load at 33-34C and i didnt feel good of it coz of my gatewatch reported temp at 40C at full load..
but now with this opty 170, the temp reported by both smartguardian and thermal probe just 1C difference (currently 36C smartguardian, 37C gatewatch)..

if ur temp is real, than i would like to use the same hsf as urs.. but if i am in ur position, i will definitely check the temp using a third party hardware.. just to make sure..
and fyi, i live in MMU hostel. Ask any MMU students who lives in hostel, surely they will say the room is very hot.. esp my room that facing food court
