Mod Update: For the interest of those who are going to get a good chip

Taken from Extremesystems:

Known good steppings that are capable of 3ghz:
CCB1E 0550VPMW
CCBWE 0550UPMW (Some are crappy actually)
CCB1E 0605XPMW
CCB1E 0606VPMW
CCB1E 0608MPMW
CCB1E 0609FPAW
CCB1E 0609FPMW
CCBBE 0610DPMW
CCBBE 0615DPMW

Honorable Mention:
CCBWE 0530TPMW (2.9ghz avg.)
CCBWE 0546XPMW (2.85ghz avg.)
CCBWE 0609FPAW (Unconfirmed precise averages, but seems to be 2.8-2.9)

AVOID if you want to hit 2.8ghz+:
CCBWE 0534SPMW
CCBWE 0543TPMW
CCBWE 0546MPMW
CCBWE 0551 (Any packing code) (2.7-2.75ghz 1.55v)
CCBWE 0602 (Any packing code)
CCBWE 0607 (Any packing code) (2.65ghz 1.55v)

=====================

Just thought someone might be interested in them

they have better memory controller compared to normal processors and they overclock pretty well..

Opteron will get a price drop soon for their 144 to 150 models..

so far the good weeks and steppings are

CABNE CPUs
week 28
week 30
week 36 is not as good but not too bad.. 2.9 shouldn't be a problem
week 40 is doing pretty good as well..

as you all know there are already a few bulks from pak din, edwin etc etc..

so if you want a good processor wait for the price drop then get them

i have a CABNE 0530 APMW Opteron 146 coming to me soon

i will smile.gif

this is the same steppings i have with afireinside .. he just did his under DI.. LINK

there are some CABNE 0540 for sale a while ago by computersmsa..

he's selling them on a few forums.. dfi street, XS etc

you can pm him if you want.. he have like 50 opterons coming in soon..

they are the same core as normal san diego CPUs.. and week 28 and 30 actually shares the same steppings as FX57 if i'm not mistaken.. so i'm thinking they are the same just with locked multi

but alot of opteron owners managed to unlock their opteron anyway.. they just did.. they have no idea how they did it ... talk about some cheap FX..

0530 in the next two months?

it'll be 0540+ by then.. unless u can get 2nd hand ones..

and normal ram will work on the opterons.. just like normal socket 939 processor..

but remember that DFI don't officially support opteron 939s (well not yet at least.. they say they won't be at the moment)

and CPUZ don't read the CPU correctly

search for a bulk called "premium item bulk"

it's Opteron 939.. of course u have to use a 939 board

Socket 939 don't use ECC Registered ram.. only Socket 940

Opteron and Sandiego share the same core

lol i hope the heat output isn't too much.. on air i'm hoping it'll do 3ghz stable.. shouldn't be a problem i hope

DI i'm planning a new container.. once i get it i will try.. but under DI it'll be too cold and i only have 10x multiplier.. i'm afraid i can't go high on HTT

still deciding on phase.. maybe yes maybe no.. but yea.. no big plans for it yet..

lol i'm not guinea pig anymore hehe.. i don't go in blind.. i only get confirmed stuffs

@babyelf
which model is good for OC thumbup.gif
AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 150 2.4Ghz Socket 939 85.3W
AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 148 2.2Ghz Socket 939 85.3W
AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 146 2.0Ghz Socket 939 67.0W
AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 144 1.8Ghz Socket 939 67.0W

depends on steppings

144 is 3000+
146 is 3200+
148 is 3500+

multiplier wise.. but with the extra cache

if you can afford 148 of course.. with the extra multiplier.. if not the 146 will be nice..

144 will need high HTT to clock it high

dual core opterons won't overclock as high

besides very few programs actually have dual core implementations..

single core opterons are clocking very high now...

to me i'd choose one that is more consistent or proven.. and will pay slightly more for it..

but that's just me.. i don't like to gamble much on CPUs
