I know there are lots of threads about this but i cant seem to find a definite answer on how to solve this. Basically what happens is when i play my campaign (just bought yesterday), at first it was fine until i reached Operation Guillotine. Then my BF3 starts crashing. I even set the graphic settings to low and its still the same. The game hangs at one point and then im back to the desktop with "Battlefield 3 is not responsing" appearing.

Im using a GTX560 OC and i5 processor. Its only windows 32bit though (just got the com at pc fair so im quite confident its not the drivers).

Can anyone help me with this sad.gif So far the multiplayer is alright though. Havent crash YET.

go to command line as administrator

key in 'bcdedit /set increaseUserVa 2500'

Then retart machine.

I had the same problem, sometime crashing saying directx out of memory. but after doing this, it seems ok.

Mine didnt say directx out of memory. Basically it just says that "Battlefield 3 has stopped working", then they proceed by finding a solution. I was playing the game all the way until Operation Guillotine then this probs start occuring.

Yeah interchanges between that and the out of memory messages. Sometimes i play then it hangs there......and i have to control alt delete. But after doing the command line, it does not do that anymore. it will occasionally freeze a few seconds but will continue instead of freezing permanently. Also may want to try the underclocking trick since urs is nvidia.

the command line is just to set the os so that it assigns more virtual memory. it should not affect ur other games. for more about the switch, check out

That is where i crashed too last time. What is ur video settings? What happens when u set it lower?

Added on December 7, 2011, 2:13 pmAlso, have u tried to repair ur BF3 install? right click on the image on origin and select repair. See how that does.

Well good luck then. Let us know how it goes. BF 3 is by the far the worse experience i have with stability on the PC. All other games so far no problem. Maybe its time to upgrade to 64-bit after all.

EDIT: Also check if ur GFX is multi-GPU, since ive heard and experience when SLI, got issues. Mine was hd4870x2 so is crossfire. Was really unstable. But after Disabling Catalyst AI, it was very much better, though it crashed at the wall too (hence the bededit thingie). Funny thing is, the crash at the wall only happened after the last update.

Multiplayer before the update was kinda unstable...sometimes when i die, i cant even respawn...just hang there. But after i turn off Catalyst AI(AMD) everything smooth(campaign too). But after the update, problems at the wall on campaign even with catalyst AI off...i didnt check on multiplayer play. A bit frustrated with the campaign to care for multiplayer at that point. But campaign working with the bcdedit thingie though a slight freeze at times...i just lower the video graphics setting(specifically texture size and normal AA...post AA from what i read dun affect too much on memory). Try to lower ur blur...i find that too causes lag for some reason.

same problem here, multiplayer works like a charm but single player crashes at a specific location everytime, changed graphics card, still the same and even used another system and still have the same problem.

the screen loses the HUD and everything else, leaving the background of just white trees and far distance shadows...

Did you update to latest patch? Yeah the realtek audio driver thingie is another one.

I updated to the 3.9gb patch yesterday. Tried campaign without any incident. though im currently at the russian mission. Im wondering if problem is specific to
levels.

EDIT: Bro urs win 7 64-bit le.....64-bit seems to work well for battlefield 3. biggrin.gif

Ive got 32-bit too. but my gfx is AMD. oec88 suggestion abt the sound may help if u have a realtek onboard sound. Mine is not as it is coming for the gfx card via hdmi.

EDIT: I initially had problems too due to not enuff memory and also the Crossfire thingie. What i did was basically, disable catalyst ai, do the bcdedit thing and update to latest patch. Also, I did a lot of graphic tweaking.

Side Note: I read somewhere that BF3 actually does some dynamic overclocking to ur gfx card hence the unstability. They mentioned for nvidia, they have to underclock from stock to get stable. The strange thing is that ur multiplayer is ok.....hmmmmm

Its alright so far.. Sometimes when i try to join a map my bf3 will stop working as well.. But so far when i join a game i have not DCed before. Not yet at least. Hope it will stay that way sigh. Ill try to upgrade to 64bit this weekend and underclock a bit and see if i can play the campaign. Honestly, i feel a little wierd playing the multiplayer without playing the campaign first lol
