QUOTE(alex458 @ Dec 6 2011, 11:19 AM) Hey guys, i am wondering for most the car got the low petrol warning light right? there will be roughly about 10 liters of petrol left when the light kicks in..then i want to know if the warning light turn on, mostly how far it still can go further more? between i'm driving wira 1.6 (auto). Please do give comment and advise about it ya~ with 10 liters.. then it depends on how you drive y0.. if use 10km/liter.. then it's about less than 100km (urban/city drive, very unlikely) |

but if the indicator turn to red, then i estimate it only can go for less than 80KM. if far from that, i sked my fueltank is empty la.. |

QUOTE(alex458 @ Dec 6 2011, 11:19 AM) Hey guys, i am wondering for most the car got the low petrol warning light right? Your Wira has a 50L petrol tank. The next time the light comes on, fill your tank full and you'd know how much you have left when the lights come on. then i want to know if the warning light turn on, mostly how far it still can go further more? between i'm driving wira 1.6 (auto). Please do give comment and advise about it ya~ The petrol warning indicator differs from car manufacturers. There is no set value as it varies from 8L to 12L. |

yeah, I usually tell people to find a fuel station within 30 km.
my dad's waja on the other hand, has a totally useless fuel warning light. with fuel warning on, still can go 100+ km. so we use the trip meter, fill in RM50 and go for 300+ km |

never depend on the whatever fuel warning light. My friend's kenari fuel meter is spoilt. Only can estimate by resetting trip meter after refill.

Some people said when the warning fuel indicator lights up, their cars still could go up to 50km~80km depending on your car. My light indicator popped out before while i was on the highway, to melaka. I still could drive about 30km to the nearest petrol stop. And i only managed to pump in RM61 worth of petrol before the petrol nearly spilled out. So i guess its inaccurate. Just get to the nearest petrol stop when the warning light lights up.

For smart forfour, the display to change to Low Fuel and 5.0L - enough for 50+ km depending on speed.

why not pump whenever you see the fuel is low?
you dont save/waste any petrol, you dont need to worry about it, and there is no risk. what do you get from worry about the car no petrol and risk break down on the road? not F1 pit stop rule right? This post has been edited by turbocharged: Dec 6 2011, 02:28 PM |

Depend on fuel meter is enough. My house Unser sometime will show fuel warning light when im going down a level car park which is a slope but the there are still more than half of the fuel in tank. Thats why i dont depend on the light.

By the way, the fuel meter hit bottom line of the meter bar mean it is going empty right?
mine car fuel meter quite sensitive. Exp: my fuel meter reach at the last bar, if i accelerate hard, the meter will drop to bottom. After a while, it goes back to the original position. My 94 wira quite funny........ |

Well in mine, the low fuel warning indicator will popped up on and off when the fuel meter is about 3/4 towards the last bar and will turn on constantly when the fuel meter reaches last bar. Usually I'll find a station to refill to the extent of additional 30km of driving. Not that i cant find any fueling station and there isn't any need to drive till empty so I'll say the low fuel warning indicator works just fine for me. As regarding to some who uses trip meter instead of the low fuel warning indicator, I'll wish u guys luck not to get stranded out on the road without fuel in time. To me the trip meter can varies anywhere between 0-50km or more each refill pending how heavy my right foot is. To each their own.
